Disaster Transport

Going back on the discussion, I've rode the ride many times and not once cut myself!!! Although DT is my fav. ride I hope they don't get rid of it!!
CP justs need to fix the lines, or que area.

Welcome back to CP I mean alaska!!!
Although i have to say thanx to
the ride ops who change the destinations at night!!!! HEHEHEHEH
Here's (I think, maybe not) a new question. How does CP inspect this ride? RideMan??

With wooden coasters, they walk the track. I'm sure they do visual inspections from time to time of the steel coasters.

Do you know if the "tubes" are walked on any basis (is that even possible)?
(Re: How do they inspect DT)
Honestly, I don't know exactly how they do it. But there is no reason that an inspector could not walk the track on Disaster Transport provided that the ride is properly locked out. There are, in fact, maintenance catwalks adjacent to the block brake governors, and there is a stairway on either side of the lift. I don't think there are any parts which are too steep to walk, but I am also not certain that would be a useful way to check the ride anyway...I'd think that the parts to check would be the joints on the outside of the tube, and the support columns. The actual track portion has a lip on the upper edges to serve as a limit stop for the car wheels; perhaps there are tie-off points above that lip on the steep parts so that climbing gear may be used? I'm just guessing.

Heres an idea, take DT out....or move it....and put one of those new inverted mouse coasters there.....so then u wouldnt be wasting the space...and u would have a kewl new facny ride.
why do you people bad mouth DT? i think that ride is so cool. just cause it has a stupid story and bad theming you think it is bad right away. well, i love DT. i like it because it is dark and sometimes you dont know where you are going. i know you guys might think i'm stupid but i think one of cp's greatist sites is DT's building with lake erie in the backdrop. i think that if they put a arrowbattic or floorless by DT, people will respect it more. the only thing i see bad in DT is the ride is short. you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. We are talking about cedar point, not SFMM. stand by your park. man, is it ever going to be april?
I am sorry to say this but the people who are saying "they should replace DT or move it" you guys just have tunnel vision. This post is about if a person is able to touch the side walls or any of the props.
Now everyone says, "get rid of it get rid of it." This is really getting old. I mean how old are you guys. From what you write you are a die-hard Magnum or Raptor fan. Do you think everyone is like you? If I were a kid do you think I would simply go from Jr. Gemini to Woodstock's Express to Millennium Force? No, all Cedar Point's ride are step stools.
Also don't you think Cedar Point needs some variety?? I don't care if the ride is short. How many other bob-sled rides have you been on? Well there aren't that many.
So what I am trying to say is that what you same people keep talking about is getting really old. Try finding something else to center around DT other than tearing it down

...We hope you have a great day here at Cedar Point America's Rockin' Roller Coast
Well actually when I was 9 I started out with Blue Streak and Iron Dragon. I have to admit I liked DT when it was themed because the robot kept you busy while you waited in line, but now it sucks because they shut everything off. I would have happily ridden the Magnum in 1992, but I was too short-I cried for 2 hours while the rest of my family waited in line. When I returned in 1994 my heart was broken yet again because I was like a 1/4 inch too short to ride the Raptor. So the way I see it if the kids are too short to ride the bigger rides, that will just give them an insentive to come back when they get taller. *** This post was edited by CP_genius on 2/7/00. ***
Uggg... I've seen this so many times on this site, that it makes me sick. Please just respect the ride for what it is. I'm not going to defend the ride again, because that's been done repeatedly to no avail. If not riding DT makes gives you a macho boost, then good for you. Just remember how unique this ride is. In the meantime, let's close this topic; I've had enough.
Thanks Dave!
