Does anyone have pictures or anything portaining to the ride when it was Avalanche Run? I was just wondering because i never saw the ride without the exterior. I was just wondering.

thank you all for the great pics. I have always wondered what was under that metal structure. I have been on it but its hard to figure out the layout while riding.

Personally I liked it better as Avalanche Run.

Wow. The CP and Lake Erie Railroad station doesn't look like it's changed much at all.

^It was only 21 years ago.

It's interesting to see what the ride looked like before it was an eyesore. When it wasn't enclosed, it was very loud though. *** Edited 4/18/2007 12:30:07 AM UTC by Gomez***

It's before I was even born, but the rides that in the park today that haven't been moved, still look relatively the same as they did 21 years ago.

Go back another 10 years and then you'll find some major changes.

I liked the coaster better as Avalanche Run too.

I also don't remember the ride as Avalanche Run. I was in Kings dominion last week and went on their bobsled ride which is named Avalanche. It was really fun and I can imagine that if DT was anything like it, it is way better not enclosed.... especially with sound effects and theming that have gone bad.

Isn't the DT the same ride as the flying turns, except that one is made of wood?

Avalanche Run's wait was just as bad as Disaster Transport's wait, except, NO SHADE! I would get sick waiting, 40 minutes at least, in the blazing sun, sometimes 90 degrees outside, on concrete.

It made the ride not worth waiting for (back in the days)

The ride isn't the greatest now, but you younger folks are spoiled getting to wait for it in Air Conditioning.

Other than that, it feels slower than when it was Avalanche Run, because the thing I remember most was slamming the side of the car at the end of the ride around the last curve before the brake and exit, not as must of a jolt as back then.

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

Avalanche Run was put in before they started doing all the shaded queues. If it were still Avalanche Run today, I'm sure the queue would be under those structures. There would probably also be bigger trees around. I just thought the ride was better not enclosed.

I was too young to even remember it before it was enclosed. For many years, I didn't realize DT was even an attraction, let alone a coaster. It was just a big ugly building near the front of the park. I always figured it must have been offices or storage of some sort.

I don't mind the ride, but the wait isn't worth it. I've had wait times of up to and over an hour before, and that ride... it just isn't worth the wait.

I wouldn't be sad if they tore it down and used the land for something newer and more exciting. While many will argue that there is still plenty of expansion room at CP, the sad fact is that it IS still a peninsula, and there's no spare land to buy when they DO run out of room.

It's older, less popular rides that will be lost to make way for newer ones. I'd rather see this one go than some of my other favorites like CCMR and ID. I wouldn't be upset to see Corkscrew go as a ride, but I love how it looks over the midway. Blue Streak has history, but I'm not overly fond of that one, either. Herky, jerky, bumpy, not overly large, not overly fast, just a piece of history.

Looking forward to Cedar Point- July 4th-5th, 2007!

What, no love for DT? Anybody?

I still think it's a great, fun, unique coaster.
