Does anyone know what bank CP is using this year for Direct Deposit? Last time I was there this is what they used.
How hard would it be to get your checks to National City? Meaning, how close is the nearest one to CP? I won't have a car, so I was wondering if there was one within walking distance to the mall or Meijers. Or do the ATMs in the park allow you to deposit that way? (I know you can do this at some ATMs, and at some you can't)
Sorry if this was asked somewhere else, but I really don't want to go through all the hassle that I had with US bank when I was there in 2003.
Thanks in advance for any info.
.. and the park ATM's do not accept deposits.

R.I.P. Fright Zone, and Cyrus along with it.
Just out of curiosity, are there Standard Federals in Ohio? Are there any near CP?
2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator
I'm sure if you pull up the website for whatever bank you are a customer of you should be able to search for locations to see if there are any near CP.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
The closest National City that accepts deposits is the one on 250 right before the mall next to the Arby's.
I got screwed a bit last season with direct deposit because US Bank signed my up for some stupid overdraft protection and didn't bother to tell me, so they were taking money out of my account. When I closed the account, they failed to register that, so they took more money out of it for overdraft protection. Because they took money out and I had no money, they charged me for that. Eeek, it took a couple months to get that sorted out.
The lesson is: Only use direct deposit if you absolutely need it. I do because I'm from Arizona, and I don't want to be lugging around checks and tons of cash with me. When you sign up, don't get overdraft protection unless you absolutely need it, and make sure there aren't any hidden charges.
1,146 rides on Raptor. Three rides in 2009.
Direct Deposit is the best thing ever. I use it any chance I get.
Haux, Sounds like you had some problems. It is for reasons exactly like yours that I will never use banks again. I have been a happy member of a local credit union for over 6 years now. Before I switched to them I had problems with my account almost monthly at 3 different banks.
The difference is, Banks exist to make money off of there customers, as a business. Credit Unions exist to make money for the members. Sure, my dividends are only a dollar or two quarterly, but I have had much less Hassle.
The reason Cedar Point uses US bank is that they are the only bank that will accept a stack of checks for direct deposit. The other banks will accept electronic direct deposit only.
Direct deposit is great as long as it goes directly into my credit union account. US Bank has a history of pulling crap like that.
You are much better off not using US bank unless you don't have a decent alternative. It might be a bit of a hassle, but US bank has a pretty good chance of being one too. They even have the nerve to switch things behind your back then charge you. Reminds me of MCI.
If you take the bus to the mall, is there a National City within walking distance?
I could cash my checks at the park when I needed to, and take the other checks to the bank once I get a steady flow of checks coming in.

This shows the Mall and route 250. About 500 yards North West of the mall is National City bank on the Nothernmost intersection off of rt. 250. The two small building on rt. 250 adjacent to National city are Arbys and Fith Thrid bank.
I'd call that within walking distance from the mall.
Man I do not know what I am going to do. I have this Bank Called Bank of America. I was told they do not have any out in ohio. Now that I have read that the bank that they are going to use for direct deposit right now is horrible. What should I do? I mean, I do not wnat to carry my checks and so much cash on me. I do not want to open up this account;, and then when I close it, will I be able to have them tranfser my funds to my bank account that I have now? Or will they be a big pain about it. If anyone can give me some suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
Shelly, I suggest cashing your first check at the park, then going to National City to open an account. I've never had a problem with them. Plus, most of the ATMs in the park are through NC. As far as transfering funds when you go home, you could always withdraw the money and re-deposit it when you get home, or just write a check from the NC account to the account you currently have when you get home. It shouldn't be much of a problem.
well im using CharterOne and i know thats in Sandusky so all i have to do is deposit the check there. I have walked all of downtown Sandusky when they held the motorcycle thing there and its not that big if you dont have a car. plus all the banks are usually by the mall and the shuttle bus goes to the mall.
Do you know where in Sandusky there's a CharterOne? I use that bank too. I have a National City account that I don't use anymore, and can use that, but would rather use CharterOne if it's somewhere close.
They were pretty nice to me about closing my direct deposit account. I never had any trouble with US Bank. I know that some people did but I didnt. I dont know where there is a Chater One. My friend had Charter One but I know where she went to cash her checks.

2005-???????Guess where??????
2004- Wicked Twister, Raptor, My beautiful Millennium Force, Mine Ride, GCA, Magnum, Power Tower, and TTD
As far as I can tell there's no Charter One in Sandusky. If you look up the locations online, there isn't one, and someone else that had Charter One last year told me there isn't one. I guess I"m just sticking with National City so I don't have any problems.
You can also mail your check back home to your bank. Of course that is only a little less reliable than direct deposit.
you can also cash it and get money orders and send them back home.. when I worked in death valley I did this a couple times.. And if they say that you never sent it, you have the receipt as proof... That saves you a lot of trouble.. but of course sending your check to your bank might be easier.. i did both.
