That would require theming, something that hasn't been done at CP for thirty years.............
I didn't know that TTD was built 30 years ago. And it's still not working? Hmmmmm.
Take a look at TTD, it's a year old and the theming is already going by the wayside. Ever since the Munger era, theming is something that they really don't like dealing with. If it doesn't increase the ROI, get rid of it
Dutchman, do you know what you are talking about? Last I checked 2005 was TTD's third season at CP.

Mr. Dutchman, Walt Disney World has made its entire basis on theming. (sarcasm) And because theming doesn't provide ROI WDW is the most valuable amuesment park chain in the world (end sarcasm).

Imo, the demon drop is more thrilling than power tower. I say keep it........
It takes up a very little footprint, and its still a fun ride.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Understand that I was in the employ of CP during the Roose-LeGross years. There was a different attitude there, a different vision. That all changed the winter of 74-75 when Emil LeGross passed away, and George Roose was forced out. The two gentlemen that had saved CP were no longer around, and the bottom line only people showed up. A lot of long time employees left then, finding positions at family owned parks around the US.
CP used to be an ideal family destination, something that George and Emil took an immense amount of pride in. If they were still around they would be saddened at what has become of "their" park. It is not what they envisioned.
How do you figure? The park is always growing and constantly improving. Its not like Cedar Point is in finacial trouble or anything, so why would they be saddened?
Why would thye be saddened? It's not growing they way they originally envisioned. Remember they were building a family resort. There was a well balanced selection of rides and attractions. There was something for every taste. They also sweated the details, personally. (I do give Dick Kinzel credit for continuing that. Some of his predecessors didn't ). With the emphasis on high rides, and the removal of flat rides (and dark rides) without replacing them inkind, it will eventually leave a larger and larger portion of the customer base with nothing to do there. Enthuisiasts make up a miniscule part of the attendence. The GP is what pays the bills, and historically as a whole, they stop riding extreme rides a lot sooner than fans.
CP has moved on with the times, like many other parks have. They do what the people want, not "they do little and provide the same experiences year after year, to keep some long time fans happy."
CP has been praised in the past for how well they've been able stay ahead of just about every other park in the world. From what I read, CP has charm to it that other parks of its size don't have.
If I remember right, the past owners had a dream of CP becoming the Disneyland of the north.

Could you Imagine if are past owners would've done that? A lot of records we have broken today might not of been broken if Cedar Point was a disney land. That's my opinion though. I'm glad that they decided not to do that. Cedar Point is Awesome the way it is! *** Edited 11/4/2005 10:51:57 PM UTC by Shawn Meyer***
