Demon Drop

I was thinking about Demon Drop, and I was hoping I could get EVERYONE'S opinion on whether it should remain open, or be removed to make way for better attractions. My girlfriend Alexis said it should be removed because it's not fun at all, and I think it should stay, because it's a thrilling freefall drop on a scary rickety old track! I need as many people to give an opinion as possible, and why it should either go or stay.
I still enjoy an occasional ride on dd, I don't think they would take it out because what else could they fit in that small space?
A quality ride in a small area. I always make sure to hit DD over any Non-Coaster/Non Power Tower.
I personally don't understand why people trash the Demon Drop. Shure the free fall towers are more exciting, scary, and open, but the Demon Drop is a blast. It didn't seem rough to me, and due to the Power Tower, every time we went to ride it, it was either a walk on, or close to it. Don't go out of your way just to get on it, but if your there, I definitly would make an effort to get a ride or two. It's a great thing to do if your just strolling out of the park after a nice long day of coaster riding, and your looking for one last ride to go on.

P.S. It also gives a great veiw of the parking lots.

I enjoy Demon Drop and I hope it stays. Besides, it doesn't take up much room and it looks nice at the front of the park.

Dan! You traitorous slut! Ride whore! I'll never forgive you for that one! ;)

Hey, he waffled around the issue about Superman at SFDL as well (not to mention Millennium Force). ;)

From what I hear, Demon Drop is the only one of that first generation free falls that any park seems to be able to maintain. I hear "maintenance nightmare" mentioned all of the time, but not for Demon Drop.

As I recall, though, that wasn't always the case. I think I have an article from the Plain Dealer at home from 1983 or 1984 about how much trouble the ride was having. Any other old timers remember this?

Demon Drop is great! I always make a point to ride it when I'm at the Point.

Too much of a good thing...is wonderful.

As a rule, I don't like free fall or drop rides, but I do think that Demon Drop is a lot more fun to watch then Power Tower. It is much more satisfying, mechanically, then Power Tower
Ah, the Demon Drop, affectionately known as the "Change Machine" (take a look underneath it! Wow!). I prefer Power Tower personally because I think it is a lot smoother, but I still try to always ride the Demon Drop. Part of the thrill is that it is rough like that, as befits the name.

I liked Demon Drop because it was unique to me, but I thought Power Tower was better. I think CP should definatly keep it.

I love DD. It looks great at the front of the park (as said before), and it's a fun ride.

We bought a lifetime supply of pudding? How wasted were we last night?!
*Dude, Where's my car?*
Demon Drop is the only ride in the park that truly scares me... I don't know what it is, maybe the slide forward into the drop, or the roughness, who knows. I hope DD stays for a while, its always fun to ride especially since its usually a walk-on.
Gemini, I think that you are correct about the park having problems with the ride when it first opened. I seem to remember that it was closed a lot.

Speaking of being scared on Demon Drop, I know that I was only about 10 when it opened, but it took me about 3 years to finally get up the guts to ride it. Even then, it petrified me. Although, I think that fear is gone now, since I can't remember being scared the last time I rode it.

Why not remove it? It's 20 years old now and at the slightest drop of rain they have to shut it down all the time anyway!! The industry has so many rides that would be able to fit in that location now, even if they had to tear out a gift shop! How about a ride like superman?
I had the pleasure of working on Demon Drop for the month of august. I can remember when we had full ques on a busy saturday! I think it is a great ride. But We always kept a eye on the sky for rain...one drop and we had to call it down!
I have never been on that ride.. so I can't say. But it looks pretty fun to me, and it shouldn't be dstroyed! It's a landmark freefall ride =)
