Demon Drop

Walt had one as part of the Demon Drop Retrospective. He might still have it available.

My brother did the "floating quarter" trick and it came back and smacked him in the head, i thought i would never stop laughing, he had a red circle on his forehead, the size of a quarter of course, all day long. Man those were the days lôle!

Pennies are cheaper than quarters :)

I herd that in the spot of Demon Drop and Disaster Transport they would put a water ride in tribute of the Mill Race, Shoot the Rapids, and White Water Landing.

Most likely you are the victim of an unsubstantiated rumor. There is no truth to what you heard.

I can't remember where I read it, but I saw that if DD was sold, it would be avaliable in November.

That was last year. But it never sold. I supose the same could be tru this year as well. Assuming that it would be available in November because the end October is the end of the season.

It would depend on the purchase agreement. If CP is saying to any buyers that it wouldn't be available until November, I wouldn't expect anyone to buy it until the off season.

So what do you guys all think will really go there if they sell it, because I have no idea.

Anyone see the working model on David Letterman years ago? I thought it was so cool. It was groundbreaking at the time. I still think it is a fun ride. Only now to think how small it looks compared to the newer drop rides.

I think all long-time Cedar Point visitors have a period of time that brings back nostalgic memories. For some older folk, no doubt, it's the Cedar Point before the midways. Others will remember the atmosphere of the 60's. I have great memories of the attractions DrJekyll mentioned. I'm sure there's a new generation that will look back on Magnum, Raptor, et al, with nostalgia.

Cedar Point will continue to grow and change. That's not a bad thing. After all, it's not like Cedar Point was the same for 100 years and then did a 180. Most decades have been different than the previous. At its core, however, Cedar Point remains the same. And that's why we all go back. :)

There was also a DD model made that was shown on the CP blog earlier this year.

The 90's and early 00's were a time for record heights at the park. Looking back at this time we're gonna see a remergence of the family and atmosphere of the park.

Speaking of memories, I always called The Mill Race the "Tidy Bowl" ride beacuse the water was that blue color of toilet tablets. LOL!!

Its sad when they take out rides like The Mill Race, White Water Landing, Avalanche Run, Demon Drop, etc...., but its all a part of progress I guess. At least they're not tearing things down just to tear them down. They're using the space for something new and exciting.

This isn't saying much, but I remember when Mean Streak, Magnum, and Raptor where the biggest three and I was scared out of my mind over them. I remember sitting over on the benches across from the Magnum station and thinking people were dying or in extreme pain from the sounds of the screams while I waited for my aunt to finish riding. It will be a shame to see Demon Drop go, as I remember walking in the park when I was younger and looking over and kind of cringing in fear at it. Boy, how the park has changed. Though I still stand under the corkscrews and just watch them go over and think about the visits to the park as a small kid. *** Edited 8/2/2006 1:47:05 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I have some similar memories, walking down the midway at the young age of 4 or 5 thinking "I'm never going on that!" :)

Demon Drop was the last ride I was really terrified of. After getting over that, I knew I could ride anything.

*It seems that speculation about Demon Drop elevated quickly and steadily, but then just stopped. If anything it has moved only forward slightly. But, without warning, it will go down at any time, leaving us flat on our backs.*

Beware the Kraken

I wish I could have early childhood memories of CP, but I live in NJ. All my memories are at Morey's piers in Wildwood and SFGAdv.

I am like the rest of you. I do not want to see DD g but if it has to be removed for something better I am all for it. Look at Mill Race. If we still had Mill Race we never would have Raptor. As far as what could or I would like to see in place of DD, a coaster that goes across the front of the park, into the parking lot and to the back side of the park. That would be a good replacement for DD.

The worst part is just slidding over the top, looking down to nothing and ....nothing...nothing...nothing...you hear a loud speaker "The ride is currently stuck, please stay in your place." Like you were going to go any where.

Actually once in 2004 we had a couple of guys stuck in the tower actually wiggle themselves out of their restraints and make it about 1/4 of the way down the tower to a bewildered ride host who was going up to make sure they stayed in their seats! It's really not funny though, that was VERY dangerous, the car could have droped from under them, or fallen over the railings of the stairs that really aren't very high. (i've done it myself, almost fell out of the tower completely... we had severe winds and shouldn't have been runing in the first place, but that's another story.)
