Demon Drop

I have a few questions about the Demon Drop. Has it sold yet? If they did sell it during a season would they wait till the end of the season? What would they put there if they did sell it?

I'm sure there would be some kind of news article if it had sold. Of course they would wait until the end of the season to get rid of it. That would be way too much of a mess during the operating season.

If they sold it, no one really knows what they would put there. It would be nice to see a newer-generation Intamin freefall, but it's too similar to Power Tower, so who knows really.

I honestly would have liked to see Skyhawk or Maxair in that spot. Something that's really visible from the front gate.

This will probuly end up being a spot for a new ride in 2008.

Yeah but the question is, what?

I just don't know what else they can put in there that would look right.

Rumor is that when DD goes the front gets a much needed overhaul.

101 on Magnum and counting...

And it sorely needs one. Donut Time and the remodeled Skyride station(s) were a start, but it still is in some serious need of a facelift.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I can't remember where I read it, but I saw that if DD was sold, it would be avaliable in November.

I think a Huss Top Spin, similar to what Valleyfair and Knott's would fit well. Of course, I wonder how it would be to have a major flat ride near the front gates.

Of course it could always be converted to a sit down area, spray basin, shop, games, who knows? Posiblities, like Cambel's.

I think they should just build something like Demon Drop, but way higher!

Or just keep it.

I'm starting to wonder though, look what happened to Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall at GL. They ended up demolishing it because it always broke down and ended up being too much money to run at all. Those kind of free-fall rides just aren't dependable anymore.

When it goes that's when you start seriously considering the removal of Disaster Transport, making plenty of room

Back in the day, Demon Drop WAS a major flat ride at the front gates. We waited HOURS to ride that when it first opened. For years after that too. I was terrified of that ride. LOL!!

We all were halltd....man I still remember seeing the commercials, and seeing it from the causeway and thinking..."no way am i getting on that!! Its huge!!!"

Demon Drop Demon Drop Demon Drop.....

I remember walking up to that monster for the first time and thinking, "Now way I am going on that thing - it's way to tall."

My first time on the darn thing, after waiting for about an hour in the queue, we were stuck up top for what seemed like for ever - a famous feature of the departing loved ride!

I remember not being able to sleep the night before our trip to CP during Demon Drop's opening season. :)

Olesko2, I remember people being stuck up there at the top constantly that first year. It seemed to break down every 15 minutes or so.

The worst part is just slidding over the top, looking down to nothing and ....nothing...nothing...nothing...you hear a loud speaker "The ride is currently stuck, please stay in your place." Like you were going to go any where.

You'd be looking over at the water, trying to get a quarter out of pocket (to try the trick everyone was talking about) and with out any notice,Whoosh - down you go. Hated every second up to the drop - but after the rush, I kind of hoped for the thing to get stuck for a bit.

Wasn't lucky enough to have it happen to me, but my sister seemed to always get on the ride when it got stuck by the brakes and couldn't drop. Ahh....the memories.

I wonder how many coins CP has accumlicated in the past years from everyone trying to see a 'floating quarter?" :)

Me and my buds all wanted to be stuck up there but it just didn't happen. I remember there would always be a crowd of people staring up at the stuck car and watching a ride op climbing those stairs to talk to the stranded riders.

Now I'm always wishing for a rollback on Dragster. :)

olesko, I never saw a floating quarter....did see lots of floating pennies though. Always seemed to palm one when getting on the ride so I could put it on my knee before we dropped.

One of my favorite memories is during the 2002 Season when I worked at the park, someone came up to me and asked me where the "Lemon Drop" was... classic...

If you do a search on YouTube you can see the original promo video for Demon Drop...

Pretty Cool to see...
