Death at Amusement Park

I just read on CNN.com that some lady fell 60 feet on Sunday out of a ride similar to Ocean Motion, only it flips upside down. She died. I think it was somewhere in Tennessee. You know what that means, even more strictness on the safety this season. Not saying that that is a bad thing at all, just saying.

we have a small park here, fantasy island. People dying or getting paralyzed wouldn't be suprising news. Happened atleast 3 times since i've had a memory.

There is a thread about this over at Coasterbuzz.

You probably won't see any change at CP this season because of this incident. I'm willing to bet alot more people die on rides than you realize. You just happened to see this one on the news. Not to mention preliminary results indicate the park wasn't at fault.

Granted, safety is no accident, and you're still more likely to die on teh way to the park.

You have to remember that this ride was at a go-kart place, not an amusement park. This go-kart place is maybe only a couple of acres, so it's pretty small. I remember passing the ride in Pigeon Forge (the town where dollywood is, and it has 10 or so go-kart places on one strip) and it looked pretty run-down, I would never have gotten on it. I just think it was the woman's fault or improper maintenance, so hopefully it won't affect CP or any other major parks.
There was a death about a week ago at Six Flags in CA. An 21 year old employee from Thailand (I think) stepped on the track and got hit by a train. Apparently, one had just passed her, so she crossed, but another one was coming. It was before park opening. My mum and dad were in the area that day, and said it was all over the news

Excellent point, TheTitan. I'm pretty sure they have different regulations as well from the major amusement parks?

Fantasy Island... I actually know Martin D, I used to date his daughter Jenn two years back. The topic of the deaths came up once and I was told that everything was in regulation, but it was the guests being stupid (lame excuse, eh?). They've gone above and beyond the regulations since then, thank God.

well... fantasy island had all it's problems before it changed to martins.

Martin's Show used to do all the festivals and carnivals around here. He bought the park in the mid-90s, brought his rides there and added a wave pool, wooden coaster, ferris wheel, and mini power tower. I don't think there's been any accidents since he took over, so he's cleaned the place up.
