De-theming progress

Can anyone that lives near the park or drives by it regularly let me know what the progress is of the de-theming?

I was driving out there late at night last night (I was bored), but did not drive onto park property (only drove past the park), and while on 43, I looked at the new support for the former S:UE, and I thought I saw a new look for the station. Now was I hallucinating (sp?), or did I see some change? Since it was late at night, and snowing, I could have just been imagining things.

This is all I have and it's from a week ago. I don't think the detheming has started at all. http://community.webshots.com/album/126673225IHwhDN.
If you have a 2003 Six Flags Worlds of Adventure calendar/coupon book from last season, keep it and compare photos to see the changes. There is a great aerial photo of the park in there.

The purchase won't be finalized until April 1st, so I doubt any major changes will occur until then.

I'll say. The deal might not be closed, but you're insane if you think the ball isn't already rolling.

I can just picture opening day......As guests enter the park, they will be asked to rip down any SFWoA sign or graphic that is still hanging up. ;)

Not a bad idea. Could I get a discount on a season pass for helping?

I just can't wait until either a) I finally have the money for a pass and b) opening day itself.

My driving down there in the middle of the night and possibly imagining things doesn't help.

I drive past the park everyday and besides the work on the yet to be named Impulse there isn't much exterior work going on.

They may be allowed in to the park, but I doubt *very* *much* that SFI is going to let CF tear anything down until the i's are dotted and t's are crossed. In the unlikely event that the deal doesn't close, SFI still has to run the park this season, unless they plan on just leaving it closed---given that the park is profitable even now, that seems unlikely.
Sorry Brian, CF is already "running" the park under the agreement with SF. Rumors are the Bill already has his house for sale and looking for a new home near the park both are subject to completion of the GL sale. He has committed to having employees in place with the CF training for the may 1st opening. Good plan hope it happens.
Unless CF is paying SFI (irrevocably) for the priviledge, SFI is a more poorly-run company than I thought.

And I already figured they weren't quite on Berkshire Hathaway's level.

Try calling CP to get in touch with certain key managers and execs. You'll probably get a "he/she's in Aurora today" response.

What time does the water show start?

Let's try this one more time.

I don't doubt, for a minute, that CF has oodles of staff people crawling all over the park making plans, taking inventory, and perhaps even supervising maintenance and re-opening tasks.

I do doubt, seriously, that SF is letting CF tear off batman logos until they either get (a) the signed purchase agreement or (b) an irrevocable deposit on the sale that would cover the restoration of said batman logos in case SF finds themselves responsible for running a park in N. Ohio this season.

If I agree to sell you my house, and we plan to close next month, I probably don't mind you coming by to look around the yard and holding meetings with the landscapers about how you'll remove the family heirloom oak tree. I don't let you start cutting unless the deal is closed or you've paid me earnest money that you won't be getting back if you welch on the deal.

Edit: of course, such a deposit might have been paid, in which case something is probably being painted neon schoolbus yellow and red as we speak.

Seemings how most of the stuff there is snap on plastics and signs that are cheaply made, it'd be *very* easy to take out many of the things that are there. I'm sure SF is going to take them out themselves, but that doesn't mean that CF can't do their own construction at the same time...

I work out at Geauga Lake as a ride supervisor and I was in the park this past Saturday (3-27-04) and all the Six Flags themed items are still up and in tact. Word is that Cedar Fair is not allowed to do anyting inside the park until the contract is signed by both parties (Six Flags has yet to sign it).

Sounds like when you are buying a house. No key until closing....

Ya think? Like buying a house? Wish I'd thought of that analogy.

(Don't mind me. I'm snippy today. Either not enough caffeine, or too much.)

Just reviving the thread to see if anyone driving near the park or going there this week has seen any progress in this area.

Any noticable work going on this week?

I need to get some documents to the park, but I'll probably fax them, as I don't want to show up at HR today in a beard, wearing, and not as professional looking as at my interview. My only excuse for going is to check out progress, and see what is going on.

Please post so I can convince myself there is no reason to drive out there.
