Dark Ride Possibilities

Don't see why Cedar Fair would compete against themselves to build 2 rides in Ohio next year. They already announced that they are going to dump a bunch of money in the hotels. I think they should build onsite hotels at all their parks if they want to boost revenues.

They definitly won't invest in KI and CP the same year. You need to lower the bar a little since we just got Gatekeeper. You'll just be disapointed!

I feel alot of people who complain about the things CP doesn't offer should just spend the extra time and money to visit KI instead. KI has almost everything on your wish list.

Except the number one steel roller coaster in the world IMO.

To my knowledge, there has never been a simulator ride at CP. Wouldn't it be sweet to have one, possibly in or near the Town Hall museum, where you could be made to feel like you're on or in some of the extinct rides at CP. Of course you'd have to have the proper film for the visual part. Earthquake, i.e., could be even better than it was before. I'm saying the ride would consist of a montage and bits and pieces from several rides. Doesn't sound like a fast moving line, I know. But, it's something I wouldn't mind paying extra for.

No, don't touch Snoopy Boutique! By far my favorite store in the park, always find something there and fun to just duck in and look around. There's a lot in there that Joe Cool Corner Store and Beagle Bay don't sell. It's also a good size space to allow a lot of people in from the heat or rain.

I'd be interested to know the stats, how much the store brings in. That would likely be a deciding factor if they were considering using that space for a new ride.

I used to ride both Earthquake and Pirate ride as a kid and miss them both. I'm amazed at what the park presented for those rides in such a small amount of space as those two buildings. I for one wouldn't mind seeing either of the old buildings used or even a new spot such as that dead area back in Frontier town known as the 1st aid station (which can be moved) and the old Jitney Arcade (which isn't even close to what it used to be). They can take the shooting gallery along with it and open up some land for a new dark ride. Just my 2c.

I wonder if something might be changed in the area where the Gemini games are currently located.

I think this area appears neglected, considering most of the Gemini carnival games are closed (most were closed July 5-7 anyway), the sad state of the arcade with old worn out video games and the removal of Skee-Ball/Boom Ball, and the general 1970's appearance of the structures.

Perhaps the new Gemini midway video cam points to future changes. (although it currently isn't positioned to view the games area).

If a new dark ride is coming, I don't see them reusing an existing building, I would bet that a new building would be built to house the ride.

Tear down pirate ride building. Rebuild new bigger building. Have a portion of it for storage and most of it for the ride.

Kings island is getting something big so probably nothing for cp. The son of beast area is fenced off and from the tower you can see new footers poured.

Now this idea isn't realistic and would require too large of a building, but something like that Peter Pan ride at disney where you get a birds eye view of landscapes but in a flying coaster. More realistic, the soarin simulator is very cool. Could feature scenes of coasters and the lake.

I would be very happy with a ride like Soarin at Epcot. That was a ride expierence like nothing else.

Honestly I don't understand why everyone thinks Soarin is amazing. It is a big IMAX screen with ski chairlift auditorium seats. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure makes Soarin look like Disaster Transport.

When I read here about Outlaw Run I checked out the Silver Dollar City amusement park and became quite jealous.

They have an indoor roller themed roller coaster (mild one, I'm sure), an indoor themed ride with a point and shoot. AND a fun house.

I really don't think whatever dark ride Cedar Point might do has to be a Peanuts theme and prefer it wouldn't be.

Like Darkrider68, I was also bummed out that Earthquake was replaced with a preschool show. And if I'm not mistaken it changed to a walk through rather than a ride. I can't remember as I never went through it again after the first time. Peanuts seems to be more general audience than Berenstein Bears but Cedar Point gives it a preschool treatment for its Kiddie areas.

The best Peanuts themed ride I could think of would be Snoopy's Sopwith Camel fighting the Red Baron.

Basically, I'm trying to say it would be a misconception that any dark ride would have to be dumbed down for children to "handle it" or appreciate it.

Oh no ^. That "indoor themed roller coaster" at silver dollar city was responsible for me not getting on a single ride from about age 6-16. It's misleading because it appears to be just a themed ride on a track when you go up to it, but it was way too intense for the many small crying children I saw crying afterward who thought they could handle it and in addition to that the theme was firey death..

I love dark rides and fun houses, and I miss them very much. I wish you would bring both of them back. I'm an oldie but goodie, tho. I loved your fun house that was 3 stories and you slid out the slide, please bring it back. Also, I like the old fashioned dark rides, maybe something like the haunted mansion at Disneyland, but don't build just one, maybe two, or three.

I am an oldie but goodie tho, and I miss the old fashioned ones. Please build 2 fun houses, and the dark rides, if you are going to build a snoopy (that's for kids), build 2 others for older people, we like ghosts, funny scary stuff, things like that. And one of the other commenters is right, not all of us like the aggressive thrill rides, we like mild to moderate rides, a lot of us do, so make more of those. Another suggestion, build a new Noah's Ark, I miss that one immensely.

Hope, I don't know how far away you are from Kennywood but they have a Noah's Ark. Also, Waldameer and Knoebels have fun houses and dark rides. I think we're going to go next summer to have a looksie. We miss them, too.

Thank you. The only thing impressive at all about Soarin is the amazing Jerry Goldsmith score accompanying the Discovery Channel footage...I mean ride film.
