DANGER, DANGER! More fast pass stuff

My sister got back from the point yesterday. She knows some people who work Raptor and Blue Streak. She was complaining to them about the fast pass and guess what. Cedar Point is thinking of employing the CPFP (Cedar Point Fast Pass) on three more Cedar Point coasters. You'll never guess which ones (well maybe you will). The bird of pray and the praying Mantis. Well, Raptor I can understand (as the line can reach the same length as the Force) but Mantis probably just has a long line because people with fast pass' don't know what to do with there time so they ride the three other coasters in the area (Iron Dragon, Wildcat, and Mantis).

What about the third.?

The third coaster I mentioned that they are looking into a fast pass system is the big old Space Port Avalanche (that's right, Disaster Transport). Disaster Transport's fast pass will be different (or so I've been told). When the line reaches over and hour and fifteen minutes in length (as that is all the building can hold with the second and third room queues closed) the ride will start to issue fast pass'. If you where confused by the half existing plot now just imagine what it will be like if they use a fast pass.

I really hope they are not really going to do all this. All it will do is cause a long line on every ride.

Please CP, cut the out CPFP!

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
I don't like this. I am really getting tired of the park telling me when to ride. It really messes up my schedule. It was hard working Millennium Force into my riding time. I had to get on Mantis then wait a good 45 minutes until it was time for me to ride. I think the fast pass should be used on very busy days, but on regular days, I don't think they need them. I also don't think they should be used on more than 1 coaster. What if I get 2 passes that have the same time. I guess I won't be ridding one, which it crazy. I don't mind waiting and hour or and hour and a half.

OMG now I'm really ticked.

Disney Point!!!! America's Roller Ticket!!!!

Finally, they are going to bring order out of the dumb lines and let folks really enjoy the entire park! I love Fast Pass, they can't bring it to bear fast enough! Bring it on!!!!! I'm one season pass holder that would much rather actually ride the rides, and not waste endless hours in line, even if I can only ride the things once or twice a day.

I would welcome it to, IF it worked. So far, it doesn't.

When Disney started FastPass in their parks they had a lot of problems... BUT... the bugs got worked out. Granted it doesn't always work as planned at Disney, it still works. I think that we should stop thinking of what will happen next and just allow the Point to work out the problems. Have some faith in the thrillganieers (as opposed to Disney's Imagineers!)

I hate this fast pass crap!!! If I want to ride a damn ride let me wait in line for the ride. Don't issue me a ticket and say come back later. That messes up my whole day.

Another thing, CP is the #1 Amusment Park in the WORLD! They should'nt mess up their reputation with this fast pass crap, one of the experiences at a park is to wait in line for a little bit, talk to people, etc ,etc.

I am sure they will have problems, but I say do it anyway. I'll deal with the problems later.

How can it mess up your day, if it works? I'd rather spend my time in the park for an hour, and then wait in line for 15 min. for the ride, than stand in a line for an hour being bored. It gives you much more time to enjoy the park. If they can get it to work, I'm all for it. Yes, one of the experiences at the park is to wait in line, that's one experience I can do without!
I now officially hate CP!

I have been trying to read up on this Fast Pass crap to see what the deal is with this thing and apparently I am not going to like it either.
On a couple of the "trip report" thread some out of towners are pitching a fit about fast pass.
I was planning on sneaking up to CP this week just for the morning and just to get 2 MF laps in before work-fast pass would totally screw that up if they force me to ride at a certain time.
Why not just utilize this thing on the weekends?
Doesnt everyone pretty much accept the fact that the line for MF is going to be long for years?
I do not think that anyone goes to CP with an anticipation of any short lines-people at CP think they have it "bad" with their 2 hour wait for MF? Try 4 hours at our "other" Ohio park to ride that other new coaster-
that is if you even get to ride it before it breaks down AGAIN.
PLEASE dont bring fast pass to Raptor-that would KILL anymore "power riding" sprints I manage!
Sounds to me like fast pass is not very popular!

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
I think that the people that don't like the Fast Pass idea are to few to make a difference. I read over the arguements being made, and most of them are coming only from the perspective hard core season pass holders, who use them to ride one coaster over and over, or that are the hard-core fans that do sneak in for a few hours and go home, or those that make 30 visits a year.

There isn't anything wrong with that per say. But its not right to say the Fast Pass system isn't popular based on a very focused and frankly small portion of CPs annual visitors.

I put myself into a catagory in between the two. I have a season pass, I do go for a few hours now and then. But also utter hate long lines, and do not accept them as a given price of riding.

Sure the system isn't great if you are a hard-core fan of a given ride, or if you are not a typical CP visitor whose visits are the one day-all day type. I think for most folks, and myself, the system will present a major improvement to the overall experience.

I accept the lines are long. I don't accept that they should be. Saying it is preferable to stand around for an hour or more, just to avoid maybe not riding due to mechanical issues is silly. Most people will rather take the ticket system over wasting (and wasting is exactly what it is) in line. Waiting in line is not why people go to CP. Saying we should just accept wasting half the day in line, because 1 out of 2,000 people want to be able to ride it all the time, doesn't cut it.

99.999% of CP visitors don't go to stand in line. Bring on the Fast Pass system.

I think the system will be a success, 99% of the people that go to CP will approve.

Nathan, you do know that ALL of the lines in the park will be longer now with this new system, right? That the waits will be longer for everything -- that was the purpose.

I hate the fastpass in principle and execution. It is really just a BAD idea.
Cedar Point seems to be catching a lot of flak about their fast pass system go check out the rider comments about MF and you'll see. The fast pass idea is just a flat out bad idea. Sure it works for people who are there for one day and dont want to wait but us hardcore Cedar Point fans who stay there for a few days are getting screwed in the long run by longer lines and so on. If Cedar Point can devise a plan to keep the line lengths the same and incorporate the fast pass system in with that fine with me but until they do I feel the fast pass system is a bad idea that they seem to think is good. *** This post was edited by CP_Freak on 6/27/2000. ***
I finally must chime in on this topic.
RPerz, NO, TICKET TO RIDE is NOT a BAD IDEA. It seems the implementation and execution of the program is what is wrong.
Nathan has hit the nail on the head. Consider the One day visitor, they come to the park to ride the rides, not wait in line. While not a perfect system CP gives them a scheduled time to come back and enjoy MF, this leaves the group plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the park. I don't believe CP implemented this system because lines where short eleswhere. I beleive CP HAS THE BEST INTEREST of the GP in mind when trying this system.
While I have not been to the park since this system started let's not overreact to CHANGE. Yes, the TTR does cut down on "marathon riding". But give CP some credit for trying to reduce the wait time (we know the crowds in July & August wiil be HUGE)
And with regard to the Blade story, that's NOT BS. IN PARK guests who have expericenced the system are voting OVERWHELMING IN FAVOR of TTR. This isn't just PR.
Yes, this is completely new for CP and all of us. Let's TRY IT, see CP work out the kinks and THEN render a decision. I know Disney did not perfect fast Pass in a day.
Rideman put it well, let's see how the system holds up over the long holiday week-end. *** This post was edited by Old Timer Tim on 6/27/2000. ***
I don't understand why they aren't offering it as an option, like at Disney parks. There, if you don't want to use it you can wait in a normal line for the same ride. Why wouldn't Cedar Point try this method?

Thanks Tim and Nathan ... I was beginning to lose hope! The system has its postives and it will get better with time. If it doesn't, then they'll take it away. It's only been, what, a week?

The only thing I think I don't like about CP's system is the lack of a standby line. Other than that, I totally agree with what Nathan is saying. I go to the park after work quite a bit, and I haven't taken a lot of rides on MF. I just don't like waiting 1.5 to 2 hrs. for one ride when I only have maybe 4 hrs. in the park. If I can get to the park by 5:30pm and get a FastPass ticket for, let's say, 7:00pm, than that's great. If not, I can get in line after 8:00pm and not really lose anything over the old system. Usually I try to get in line for MF about 15min. before closing. That way I minimize the time wasted in line. I won't loose that capability with the FastPass system either. Long lines are my number one complaint about CP. Much of the time, when I go after work, I'll ride on Gemini, Corkscrew, Blue Streak and anything else I don't have to wait in line a long time for. Then I'll get something to eat, people watch, play games, etc. FastPass will allow me to do those things, and still get a MF ride in. If I wanted to do nothing but ride MF, I can probably only get two rides in between 6pm and 10pm, with or without FastPass. The difference with FastPass is that the time spent waiting can be of much higher quality. That will especially hold true if you spend most of the day in the park, rather than just the evening.
