Daddy Raptor...

Ok we all love Millie, thats a keeper for a LONG TIME, dragster is going to be our launch/height ride, so that's a keeper, but what's next.......I say build a huge ass version of the raptor........well all love the Raptor, take it and put it on steroids and there ya go. Who's in with me...?

*BoreD*

Well a couple things...

1) B&M won't go that high, they didn't have the capablility of going 310 like Intamin did. I believe CP contacted B&M when building MF as one of the manufacturers and they declined. Correct me if I am wrong.

2) If you have ever noticed when riding raptor that is about as fast as you want those trains to go. Sometimes I notice when in the cobra roll or on the corkscrews after the mid-course trims a little shake to the trains at high speed. This is in the back seat as that's about the only place I ride. Also I only notice it when Raptor is really flying after the grease in the wheels breaks in.

But hey if B&M can support and make a ride twice as high or higher capable of going faster without breaking the trains up, then I am for it. Now also those are a few things I have noticed, Raptor may be capable of going another 10-15MPH faster but I tend to think the trains would not like it too much if it did. That's my 2 cents and if anyone knows some things I don't then correct me.

That and inverted trains as well as floorless trains arent good candidates for high speed and height rides because the trains arent air-friendly.
Is it just me, or are is the largest invert (Alpengeist) possibly the worst one of all? I like tight inversions close to the ground.. not a loop that takes 12 seconds to maneuver.

If CP gets a new B&M, it will be a flyer, floorless, or new type we have yet to see. I still think they're about due for a Ghostrider-esque ride.

Hooper -- it is my understanding from inside sources that B&M did issue a proposal for MF, but that the cost of the ride was so excessive that it was not seriously considered. Also heard that Morgan was initially in the loop, but pulled out after CP issued the specs that a design had to accommodate (i.e., their chain-driven lift hill could not meet 310 in the real estate allocated)

I would have to agree with Ryan, just because a coaster is larger doesn't make it better. Think of all the dead time between elements.

I've always sorta wished they'd take out CorkScrew, and put in a new sit-down looper that was longer and better, and that ended with corkscrews in the same place (maybe a bit smoother to ride, but still over the plaza like now). That'd be a "refurbishment" I'd like to see.

And I wish they'd just take out Mean Streak and put in an Intimin Woodie in the same spot, of approximately the same size, but with lots lots more air.

Or get rid of the painful Mantis and put in a floorless in its place.

Raptor is absolutely great as-is, where it is, and it shouldn't be touched. Ditto Blue Streak.

Why totally remove Mean Streak when they could just reprofile it? That sounds like a waste of the several millions it took to build it. If they want the height record for wood, they could just extend the lift to beat SOB, and give it a brand new layout/incorporate some of the original.

Corkscrew is like a training coaster. Not everyone will ride the huge monsters that dominate the skyline...they need some coaxing. What's wrong with Mantis other than its capacity?

I don't know if we will see a floorless coaster at CP. It would add more loops like so many enthusiasts want, but that cuts out like half of the target audience. With B&M's debut of their flyer, I think that it would only be logical for CP to install one that dwarfs X-Flight and Superman: Ultimate Flight.

I would also like to see a woodie that splices Ghostrider and The Legend together, finally giving CP a top ten woodie.

I absolutely agree that Cedar Point needs better woodies. We need one of those GCI duelers. They are awesome! Otherwise an Intamin woodie would be just fine.
It would be cool if the Mean streak looped like Son of Beast at PKI. Also, I don't like the trims going down the 1st hill. It slows down the whole ride.

Wow - pretty amazing there's a woodie out there taller and faster (but not as steep a drop) than Maggie! I'd love to give that thing a ride - the head choppers and flying by all that wood, plus the loop, would make it more intense! That's the thing I like about woodies - all those crossbeams in the supports make it seem bigger than it would appear if it was built from steel with lots of empty space between supports.

It's a wonderful ride. One coaster I'd love to ride is Shivering Timbers. All those hills; all that airtime! CP needs at least 1 more woodie.

CP Fanatic Forever!!!

the next logical progression imo would either be a woodie (unlikely), or a stealth like coaster, and even a coaster like 'X'. that would really bring more crowds I think. I think it would also be totaly kickass for CP to introduce a new type of coaster all together - i dunno what it would be like, but a 1 of a kind coaster. Maybe some sort of hearline coaster but with maneuverability? like with tracks on the side and rotating cars in the middle sort of like a swinging inverted but within the track?
Shivering Timbers is wonderfull! I love living less than an hour away from it!

I hope CP gets a new woodie. Mean Streak is painful and Blue Steak gets boring after 2 or 3 times. I also hope that CP will get a floorless or flying coaster, or mabye a 4D so the people in the midwest don't have to go all the way to SFMM to ride X! What CP does not need is a coaster that is all about height. Mille, Maggie, and Dragster provide the height at CP. Maybe go for a new type of inversion or something. Just my 2 cents.

I actually think the huge loops are fun, and Alpie sure rips through that cobra roll.

I don't think Cedar Point need another invert, Raptor is just fine...

CP won't build a coaster whose technology hasn't been proven reliable. I/E X.

I wouldn't say Xcelerator has really proven itself reliable yet.

X has been up and running reliably for a good period of time now, while it still has some issues I think it's well on its way to proving itself.

Thats right Virginia, I am Santa Claus.

I have always enjoyed the MS at night and aside from the beast it is the best wooden coaster I have ever ridden, FUN seems to like to build steel coasters as it seems you can make them alot easier than a wooden one;just a thought I am not an engineer.
While everybody's asking for a new woodie, I'd like to see either a B&M floorless or a 4D. CP only has two world class loopers, and a new floorless would add to this and give them a completely new type of coaster. They already have two woodies, one of which was built only about 10 years ago. And if they put in a 4D, it would be the only one within a couple thousand miles and would take the air out of SFMM's claim of having the only one. But that's just my opinion.....
