CP&LE Makeover?

It is said that Walt Disney once saw one of his cast members walking through their frontier land area dressed as a spaceman on his way to his job in another area of the park. This infuriated him so much that he had tunnels built under the Florida parks to facilitate these movements so the guests would not see such an out of place event ever again.

Now I know CF really sucks at any themed immersion experience, but having a old time train ride into another land - that passes a giga coaster and a service street along the way - would make someone like Walt spin in his grave. (or cryogenic freezer if you believe the myth)

Granted, the view of the lake from the train is nice - but the purpose of visiting a theme park is to escape everyday reality. What CP needs the most right now is quality. The bigger/taller/faster approach constantly results in a short term solution that is quickly duplicated elsewhere. What was new just a few years ago (Windseeker, STR, Skyhawk, etc.) has no longevity and likely won't survive nearly as long as CP&LE has.

CP isn't a theme park

If CP isn't a theme park - whats the point of having a frontier section? Maverick, Mine Ride, and the western shops don't exactly convey a Coney Island atmosphere.
While the rest of the park is starting to look like an oversized carnival, this section has a consistent theme.

If I'm understanding you correctly, a park can either 100% themed or 0% themed, but nowhere in between. Really? Seems harsh.

Plenty of parks that are not theme parks have themed areas. Six Flags New England. Canobie Lake.

A park without any theme - is a carnival that doesn't move.

I'd like to know where you live and what carnivals you go to that are Cedar Point esque. I live close enough to attend the Canfield Fair in Canfield Ohio every year. This is the largest county fair in Ohio and it doesn't come anywhere close to what Cedar Point has to offer in the forms of rides, attractions, entertainment or (this is pushing it...love fair food) food.

Jason, that is not what I had in mind. I would hide the structure inside the mountain. It would look like the building was sitting on top of the mountain. The boat chute would look like a water fall. And the train would go through a tunnel--a dark tunnel. Oh there's the dark ride; train in a tunnel.

Billo2, please accept my apologies. World traveler that you are (county fairs and all), until you have visited most of the major park chains, you really cannot compare and appreciate the value of themes.
The immersion of a good park is what keeps family's coming back, and the attention to detail is worth the admission. Just a collection of rides and midway games isn't a draw for very long because they cater to a small demographic and can be duplicated elsewhere. CF would not have the Peanuts characters, the frontier section, or even ride names/themes if it weren't for the $ these tie-ins provide.

I am actually fairly well traveled. I have been to many parks across thecountry. Locally Geauga Lake, Kennywood, Cedar Point. Further out Busch GardensWilliamsburg, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion, Knott's Berry Farm, bothUniversal Studios and most of Disney's offerings in FL.

The comparison to a carnival to CP still doesn't work. While CP may belacking in heavy theming compared to some parks it is far from a carnival atmosphere.

I also wouldn't call CP's demographic small as it does attract from far and wide for it's coasters.

I kind of like the not overly themed-ness of the park.

If they ever mess with Boneville I will riot. I wish the train slowed down through boneville so I could take more time looking at it

They did mess with Boneville and I darn near felt like rioting. I remember riding it the first time after they put in Mantis and coming up on the fire scene and was like, Oh, hell no! They better move that over coaster NOW! I've since calmed down about it but your post made me remember the emotions I had that day.

I was looking at it the other day, and thinking about evergreen screening for that scene, they really have come extremely close with Mantis right up against it.

We can't slow down we are going up hill believe or not!

Yeah, I remember dreading the possibility of getting a red signal at the one before the Trail Crossing (back in the 1970's, it was at a different location than the present one). Depending upon conditions it could be a bit tricky starting there.

It didn't infuriate him; cast members walking through areas of Disneyland in costumes from a different area of the park was a fact of life that he didn't like. It's a bit of an insult to Walt's intelligence to suggest he wouldn't have been well aware that would be happening before the park even opened to the public.

Florida's Magic Kingdom does have tunnels (if there are trees in the ground, there's no tunnel underneath). Epcot has one short tunnel. Studios and Animal Kingdom do not have tunnels.

No, he's not. The right of way for the railroad was laid out with a grade going into the stations. It peaks in the station. This aids in stopping the trains. It's actually a practice used that dates back to pre Civil War railroads when the only way they could stop them was with hand brakes on the cars and by pulling the locomotive over into reverse.

Instead of messing with Boneville, how about refurbishing Jennie K. and Albert.
