CP4Us! Wednesday August 25th

It had been quite a while since my hubby and I embarked on yet another CP trip.

High Po!nts: Mother Nature (although a tad warm) cooperated quite nicely. Crowds were non-existent all day, the longest wait we had for anything all day was for MF (30 minutes) and as always. Banshee (30 minutes) I got another 10 Raptor flights (leaving me 110 more till 1k!) and my husband and I managed a 14 minute wait for TTD. It actually did NOT break down during our wait! Gasp! Visiting with some of our marketing friends was fun. Later in the afternoon we hooked up with some fellow Po!nters, Matt (Hooper aka my PIC) and Matt (Skykicker) for yet some more laughs and great CP memories. Besides the Raptor front car ride together, the best time I think for all of us was the Dodge Ems. Nothing like whiplash! ;) We had dinner together at Famous Daves, and although I am not a big fan of BBQ, they all agreed their ribs were awesome. I kidded around with the WT TL (who I ADORE!) that I would come back and work at CP this season if I could be on his crew and he actually lit up and asked "do you want to?" For one micro second I almost said yes. No thanks....I think Raptor Jo will just stick to being a guest, my life is way too busy to try to fit working at CP again into it.

Low Po!nts: Humidity was REALLY high, but everytime one of us complained about that, I reminded them when it’s 20 degrees outside and 2’ of snow and ice on the ground, we would wish it was 89 and humid! Of course, the other bad thing weather like that brings out are people who think deodorant is an "option", or the ones who ASSUME they look breathtaking with little or no clothes on.
Let’s talk about the WAY obvious preggy young chick who only had on shorts and a bathing suit top! I’ve been pregnant myself and I’m sorry, I think my baby-filled stomach was not meant to be shared with EVERYONE. Of course, I could be wrong here, but I do not believe that is attractive to everyone :(

I don’t even want to get started here about all the changes I have seen during this entire CP season because it will end up being a flame thread and that’s it. It just seems like since Bill Spehn was sent to GL, the "caring" attitude in the park is gone. One crew really SUCKS this season, (intervals? hello? attitude? hello?) I am still amazed that despite the season almost being over that hasn’t changed, and has maybe gotten even worse. Maybe I’ve just grown up or something, but the park just doesn't have the same feel to me anymore, and I'm not the only one who said/has said the same thing :(

Jeff had a previous thread which addressed it perfectly, I don’t think I could top what he has already said.

Despite all that, it was a really fun day, thanks to my hubby, Matt and Hooper it was even more fun!! :) Think we should all do it again...hey, how about tomorrow???? :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

I hear what some are saying, but I just don't see it myself.

I was in the park on last Saturday evening with a friend who was participating in Pedal to the Point. It was pretty crowded, but we managed rides on Magnum (30 minutes) and Blue Streak (15 minutes). He stopped for fries and we managed a lap around the park during the 2 1/2 hour visit. The atmosphere was terrific (nothing beats walking the midway on a pleasant summer evening), ride ops were friendly, good service at Happy Friar ... there was nothing remotely negative about the experience. And that's just one example of many. I haven't had a bad trip this year.

Outside of some inefficiency, or just some lazy slowness, in few of the ride crews, I have to agree with Walt. I just don't see the bad attitude in the park that some of you have seen.

I've been in the park this year about as much as last year, and it seems just like the CP I've grown up with.

Breakers TGIF and Famous Dave's especially have been really nice experiences this year. The food is good, service has been quick and friendly, and the bartenders are personable and efficient.

As far as I'm concerned, the MF seat belt issue, TTD breakdowns, use of load gates and increased safety rules don't count toward "negativity". That is just a sign of the times, it has zero effect on my enjoyment of the park.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Pete: I have to agree with you about Breakers and TGIFs since that is where we spent our honeymoon this past May. Excellent memories and service from both, we plan on going back next year for our 1 year anniversary ;)
Dave's service was great yesterday, no complaints there either.

As for the MF seat belt issue: I fit
The TTD breakdowns: so what else is new
Load gates: Guests may hate them but, I LOVED them as an op
Increased safety rules: good for CP
None of these issues came into play in my personal feelings.

Maybe it's because I've worked there I view things alittle differently, and granted maybe I take them all to heart alittle more too because of my passion for the park. Despite all the low Po!nts I mentioned, I also said we were going back to the park again tomorrow. The little things that bother me are certainly not enough to keep me out of the park.

Nothing could EVER keep me away from the park. Period.

All I said was JMHO....that's all.

I've only been to the park once so far this year, (going again on Labor Day :) ) but I have to agree that there was nothing negative about my experience either. Even when a CP&LERR operator saw my friend and I trying to sneak our Icees on the train, he nicely told us to finish them before getting on. That's why I'm kind of surprised to hear so many people saying they've had problems with rude employees. I don't know, maybe I've just been lucky.

I was at the park for my 9th time this year on Sunday, August 22nd. I expected to have the usual fairly small crowd that I am used to on Sundays, when most people are either at church or pretending to be at church. Much to my surprise/dismay, the park was as packed as I have ever seen it. From the top of Space Spiral, you could see that EVERY parking space was filled, front to back. People even lined the edge of the parking lot with cars. It was ridiculous. I was wondering if anyone else was there that day who can sympathize with me.. Oh well, it was still a fun day though, aside from the 1/2 hour FREEWAY line for Wicked Twister! Truthfully the freeway line was as long as the real line. Ok I'm done ranting and raving..

I can understand that. I spent 6 years working there - I know that I look at it differently than I did before I was an employee ... but not in a bad way.
