CP v/s 'sister' parks

Well, CP is known as the Queen of American Watering Places though.

So you're saying CP is drag? If so I'm totally onboard with that approach hahaha

Why would it be a joke? It's a great little park, emphasis on little, that has great rides. Shivering Timbers is one of my favorite coasters. I always enjoy my visits to MiA.

It's like saying that Idlewild is a joke because it's not Hersheypark, or that Little Americack is a joke because it's not Great America.

Small parks have treasures.

It's a joke because this is a forum of mostly enthusiasts, and other than Shivering Timbers there are no enthusiast rides.

I don't dislike the park, but there is a reason I live 45 minutes from it and only got there 3 times last year, but spent 17 days in Cedar Point last year, which is 5.5 hours away.

Well, I'd disagree that there are no "enthusiast" rides; I enjoy all of the coasters at MiA,and I enjoy the park itself aside from the coasters. I may be biased as I remember visiting the park when it was Deer Park, and the high point of a visit was petting the deer.

You should probably just give up now.

So....just got back from Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA. Yes the platinum pass saved me $318 (for four of us, including parking) right off the bat which was a great feeling. Strange note: our Platinum Passes were getting us 20% off discounts with food/merchandise. I wasn't complaining. Anyhow...

Ghostrider! I'm assuming this coaster has RMC topper track. What a ride. Smooth as silk, and very forceful throughout. What a great wooden/ hybrid coaster. This was my favorite ride in the park. Didn't mind the 45 minute wait, well worth it.

The park themeing throughout Ghost Town (similar To CP's frontier town) was wonderful and what I wish CP's was like. The park had a Kennywood feel to it (if you've been there) and was divided into 4 different sections :Ghost Town, Boardwalk, Fiesta Village (which was interesting), and a kids Camp Snoopy (?) area.

Their log flume reminded me of the old Mill Race but much better, themed throughout and elevated with animatronic characters (ala WDW) inside. A neat touch. Sorry to blab, CP is my home park, still my favorite, but if you like old Vintage CP, like I do, this might be a #2 Cedar Fair park for you. It was for me.

Did I mention the Boysenberry pie/jam and Mrs. Knotts Fried Chicken? LOL.

As it turns out, GhostRider was actually originally built by CCI. This is the same company that built Shivering Timbers. Shivering Timbers has held up much better (with some retracking) than GhostRider through the years. When they refurbished it, it wasn't actually RMC that did it, but GCI. They retracked it and even reprofiled it a little bit, while also adding the awesomely comfortable Millennium Flyer trains. GhostRider can instead be a little tease for a potential GCI at CP in the future. But, before I get ahead of myself, let's just enjoy the RMC that we get to enjoy in the very near future!
