All-in-all, this was one of the best trips to CP yet (other than the weather) and it was my 6th trip. We arrived on the 16th at around 3PM and checked into the Breakers Hotel. We stayed in the "old" section of the hotel which was really cool. We had an interesting view of Millennium Force's first drop (which we could watch in the morning to plan our ERT daily). So we got into the park with our Starlight passes and did Gemini, Iron Dragon (still sucks), Corkscrew, Mantis (we rode in the rain in the front car, can you say hurricane??!), Wildcat and Power Tower (not too bad for a three hour stint at the park!!!) after we got off of Mantis, it was really raining and we were already soaked so we headed towards Wicked Twister. WT is one of the best Impulse rides I have ever been on. We rode it four times in a row....first in the back...WOW (that was our FIRST ride) it felt like you were going to go right off of the top of the spiral!!), then we rode in the front (hurricane number two!) then we rode towards the back and then in the middle. My favorite (contrary to popular opinion) is the middle, you get the most twist out of each spike. Eventhough is was raining, it was warm and the park was fairly empty. The next morning it was 40 degrees...can you say freeze your tootsies off!?? jeez....but we forged ahead and enjoyed our ERT on Millennium Force, riding in the front for the first ride and all the way in the back for the second. I must say that Millennium Force, when it is running, is my new favorite steel coaster. I could just ride it all day (unlike WT which is really a rush, but not an all-dayer!). Basically, we spent the next three days re-riding every coaster that we liked. Raptor, MF and WT were rode the most, my friend really liked Raptor!!! I will be posting the trip at hylk.com towards the end of the week because I am still tired. Overall, it was cold and the park was not that busy. MF broke down everyday while keeping people in the red car at the top of the hill for 35 minutes once (we timed it while waiting for Mantis sans the rain!). I must say that MF is plagued with breakdowns but CP staff keeps it running as much as possible. Definately check out the FreeWay passes, they help sooooo much (and becareful, they can upset the other guests waiting in line!). The longest lines were for Magnum (which was such a great ride 6 years ago, but now is just rough....), MF (definately worth an hour or so wait), and Mantis (puts all the blood in your body down in your feet, but what is up with the trim brake on the first hill??). One more thing I must mention: The wait for Power Tower at any given time was 5-15 minutes all 3.5 days that we were there and was something we could "jump" right on for a quick thrill between coaster waits. We really loved the Power Tower! Getting shot up in the air was my favorite and we must have ridden at least 20 times in 3 days! I always made sure my lapbar was not totally tight to my stomach and held out my arms while giving the crew in the control tower the thumbs up to release us! Then at the top you fly up out of your seat and come back down! So Cool!!! The sounds of the air and seeing the other cars going up and down all made for an excellent experience! I give S & S a 9.5 for this one. I have watched the stuff they have created, but this one is the best by far. The "thrust down" side was a little high up for my blood (that slowly lifting you to that height gave me the creeps.....even though we must have done that side 5 times. I highly recommend doing the drop side at night. You stay up there for approximately 15 seconds, so you get a great view of the park before you plummet to earth!). Ok, I will stop rambling now. I wanted to post my trip here and say that even though I froze, CP overall did a great job keeping things running and I had a great 3 1/2 days!
