CP needs a mega looper! (and a kiddie-woodie)

Ok, I love Magnum, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and I'm sure I'll really love #16, but Cedar Point is really lacking in the loop department. Raptor has 6, Mantis: 4, and Corkscrew: 3. For a whopping total of 13 inversions in the entire park. I think come 2005 they need to double that in one quick stroke and bring the grand total to 26. They could probably name it something having to do with the number 13 or something unlucky. And while, I guess I wouldn't mind it being a floorless coaster, I think it should just be a regular sit-down coaster like The Hulk. With 13 inversions, they'd be able to claim another record, and pad it for at least a little while longer. Granted, a coaster of this size probably wouldn't fit anywhere in the remaining land, but there's a huge parking lot out there.

And in the meantime (2004), they definately need a jr. woodie (e.g. Zach's Zoomer, Scooby's Ghoster Coaster, etc.). If there's enough room in Camp Snoopy, they could put it there. If not, maybe they can have a Jr. Mean Streak.;)

I agree completly that CP could use a mega looper as they have just about everything else and are only lacking in the loop department. Most major parks, to my knowledge, have them in one form or another an it wouldn't hurt CP to get one. Only problem would be where to put one. While CP does not have a space problem, mega loopers usually take up alot of space in one big block, and their are very few spots where one could be built within the parks boundries. However, they could put it somewhere else on the peninsula, such as a portion of one of the parking lots.

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

First I'd like to apologize to any D.T. fans, but who could argue that the space that the eyesore takes up (and the staff parking lot behind it) wouldn't be better used as a site for a mega looper...just a thought. Other than that, for a coaster that size, it seems to me like they'd have no choice but to tear up some of the parking lot...and that could be risky.
Man I just can't believe this....

Why does this subject look so much like my first post here (4th one down) and my other one there? See, this just proves my the point of my 4:16 pm 12/2/02 post here re: newbies and new threads. I'm not necessarily calling you a 'blowhard', but I'm not so sure this is new thread material. Many of the regulars have heard CPlaya's kiddie lumber rant enough to recite it verbatim.

But I ain't mad at you--I'm mad at Area41. Hey...keep your paws off DT! Until some time in the distant future, it's the only rainy-day coaster, one of the closest things to a family coaster and Da Midget's #1 by a country mile. I'd rather see almost anything else go down first.

Not to mention.. not possible when you take into consideration parking issues and a few land development agreements that are currently in place..

Don't count on seeing a parking lot expansion for MANY years.. It's gonna cost alot more than people think if they were to do it.

CoastaPlaya- Dually Noted...I'll find less meaningful attractions to dig my "paws" into.

Rob- Wasn't aware of the land agreements...thanx for the input.

And to any others...please don't get me wrong. Disaster's a great ride..but when you're considering a new attraction in a park that doesn't have that much space left, something somewhere has got to give.

I think cp should get the tallest, the longest, the fastest, with the most inversions, floorless, or flying B&M
I don't think DT will get taken out any time soon. Taking it out, and replacing it wouldn't increase the parks coaster count.

Same reason why Magic Mountain hasn't removed Flashback.

Area41, Cedar Point cannot remove any parking spaces anywhere. Maybe when you go the parking lot is only half full, but on several occasions, I have seen the parking lot completely full, including the overflow parking and the parking spots by the tolls. To remove parking anywhere would not be a wise idea.

DT doesn't count for CP's coaster count, for whatever reason. It seems like more of a coaster than WT (don't get me wrong, they are both a lot of fun!)
Gee Brent, I thought this post was about a mega-looper...if you'd like to start a thread on the parking situation, let me know...I'd love to contribute.

And by the way...the parking I was referring to was the parking around and behind the D.T. building itself which could possibliy be moved if need be to accommodate a new ride.

I think too that the park needs a new looper. A nice B+M or something, just as long as it's not a sit-down. CP already has too many sit down coasters. A nice floorless or flyer would be cool. As to where to put it, sounds like a longshot, but what about expanding the peninsula? Couldn't they build on to it, kinda like what theyre doing in NYC? They could expand their land and build onto that.

Hey.... Whatever

I would love to see a floorless mega looper. But take out DT for it? The hell you say. That should be taken out for a nice wooden twister (hoping and praying).

I don't think CP will build a coaster with inversions in it unless the inversions are new elements never seen before. CP is all about new ideas and inovations. If you want a floorless or a flying coaster, there is one an hour away. Yes a B+M flyer would be better but a flying coaster is a flying coaster. If CP does builds a flying coaster, there will be something new to the ride to make it stand out. Ex. #16, the ride is like Xcelerator but has some newer ideas to it like the height, speed, and falling maneuver.
RollercoastO3, Disaster Transport does in fact count as a roller coaster at Cedar Point. After all, it's....a roller coaster.

Rumor around the campfire was that CP was supposed to get some sort of kiddie woodie for 2003.. not likely now though, probably would have cut into DK's bonus, and what a travesty THAT would be!! removal of DT.. never, or at least not for a while. Building a new coaster at the expense of an employee parking area, that is actually not out of the question, seeing as how WT left the kids with no more employee beach.. oops.. got off of topic.. weren't we talking about employee parking, oh yeah, it just ain't kosher to loiter in the employee parking area that vertigone now occupies..

there is a kettle of jilted resentment and anger that brews a truthful manifesto that has been in the making for quite a while now.. if only we can tip the pot

With SFWoA having a floorless for a few years now, and SFMM buuilding their own. The only other park that would possbly get a monster floorless that CP would have to worry about is SFGAm. Since the rest of SF's bread winners already have floorless rides now, there is only one left. I'm surprised that SFMM didn't go for the height record. If SFGAm gets a floorless anytime soon, then CP can get the tallest and claim the record for quite some time.

I'm not even sure if CP is interested in a floorless though...

Launch: Tophat: Twistage: Brakes...

...Denial is an ugly thing.

Only reason I want it to be a floorless is because I really like them. Not because other parks are getting them and CP should get one now.
Is there much of a price difference between a floorless and a regular coaster? If a floorless doesn't cost that much more than a regular looper, than I'd say go for it, but otherwise, I'd stick with the hulk-type coaster.
Area41- The parking behind DT can't be taken out. That is the parking for all the CP employees. And any new ride will need employees and spaces for them to park. Unless you think that the rides operate themselves. Brent is right parking can't be taken. Its so important to the guests and the employees to be able to park. If parking ran out CP would not have as many people in the park. That my friend would not be good.
