I had decided since I had to haul a horse up north this morning that I would "stop off" at CP to get my parking sticker for my truck. I got the horse safe and sound to his new addy, and his new owners were kind (and understanding) enough to let me leave my trailer there and pick it up on way home. (Note here to my b/f-I DID back the trailer up-more than once-mu ha ha ha ;))
Let me first say what a beautiful day this was, especially compared to my last CP trip of this season in January, quite a contrast compared to that dead o'winter trip! Spring is in full bloom, farmers are getting their fields ready,
raccoons, possums, deer, and various "critters" are NOT making it across the roads successfully. Blech! The birds are their usual "kamikaze" selves in front of traffic, and let me now apologize to the ga-zillion bugs my truck's bugshield, front end and windshield took out, again, blech!
Even after ALL these years I still get chills when I first turn on the causeway, Wicked Twister is quite the addition to the once "boring" right side of the park, yes you can see the towers NO problem from quite far away. (I don't think you can truly appreciate how tall the towers are until you see them in person-they are HUGE!) When I 1st got to the group sales parking lot I got to see WT run 2x. As if I wasn't apprehensive about riding this thing before, watching it run terrified me all the more! Once my parking sticker was in place, (a short mention here, they had to take off the 1st one due to the employee put it on completely crooked, sideways, and like 4" from the corner where they always go. Apparently she missed the "how and where to put the parking stickers" training class. Funny note here was she was like, "what's wrong with it?" when I told her the sticker did NOT go THERE, never mind it being crooked too! Duh! Thankfully this other employee Jeff came to my rescue) I got a nice surprise by seeing one of my fav CP people and his lovely wife, we chatted a while (and again I do NOT like Talon better than Raptor!!!! :) and NO Hardees for you! :)) and just talking to them about CP was getting me so excited!
I didn't go around to the Soak City side of the park, but did get as far as the marina. And here are some of the things I saw:
Paiting the stucco on the front entrance (I do believe no more pink-but don't swear me by that) Blue Streak is getting painted and looks awesome. They painted the "people walking road" from the main parking lot to the marina gate a light blue. They are repaving parts of the main parking lot. Besides seeing WT running a couple of times, the Giant Wheel was running (and next to WT it doesnt look quite so "giant" anymore!) and that was about it. Raptor wasn't cycling, neither was MF, Maggie or Mantis while I was there. Oh yes and the BIG news that CP was now going to have Krispy Kreme donuts. Doh! ;)
I left CP DIEING for this season to finally begin! With my(straight) 2002 parking sticker in place I headed back to LaRue, picked up my horse trailer, went to Marion for a while to visit some cowboy buds, and know I just drove them all CRAZY talkin CP and NOT barrel racing! :)
I heard "will you shut up and just ride?" more than once! ;)
Even thinking the whole drive back home again "man I HATE this drive!!" you KNOW I can NOT wait for the next drive down the causeway and for this season to begin!
WT is gonna rock and Raptor Jo is SIKED! :) :) :)
Can't wait to see my GTTP buds and meet some new ones too!!! :) I've got 2 CP trips in already this year and the park isn't even open yet! :)

30 minutes? Add 2.25 hours to that and there's my drive time. I would LOVE to live as close as you Hooper!
And don't think I didnt notice that house on Rte 4 with the little barn and pasture for sale like 10 minutes from the causeway and thought that house is for me (and my horses of course) Of course that'll never happen, a 6 hour round trip every day to work would be a tad too much even for me! ;)
See ya soon Hooper my PIC! :)
Ready to kick that Sandusky sky! :)
Love ya man! :)
