CP Hotels

It looks like I have a choice between Breakers and Breakers Express for a CP vacation this year. Can anybody give me some comparisons between the two? I'm looking for things like price, quality, convenience, etc. I've been to the Breakers, but not the Breakers Express. Any other hints, tips, or advice for the trip would also be greatly apprieciated.
If you have the money, stick with Breakers. Nothing beats the convenience of staying on point.
Breakers is much more convenient. Being able to walk back to your room at any time is well worth the cost IMO.

I like BE when I need to go a bit cheaper. You can still leave the park and get back in again with your daily parking pass, but it's more of a hassle driving down the causeway and finding a place to park when you come back in again.

STAY ONSITE!!!!!!!

Do yourself the favor and stay onsite! No matter what anyone says, being there on the island walking a few steps to the entrance is unbeatable!

We have stayed once offsite and once on, and the offsite trip was sooooo bad compared to the onsite!

Island?
I can see where it would be "easier" to stay at Breakers. But when I went, it was 3 times more expensive to stay at Breakers. I stayed at Breakers Express, which was nice for the amount of time I was there (really only slept there) and got the "package" and was able to come and go as I pleased from CP for ALOT cheaper.
Is there a toll to use the causeway (or other road nearby)? I've heard something about that, but never drove there myself. Does the parking pass (when staying at BE) cover this charge as well? I would perfer to stay at the Breakers, but I didn't know if there were any "hidden" costs from staying at BE, like said toll.
Does anyone know about quality of BE? I have stayed at Breakers and it is a VERY nice hotel. If it ever comes down to Sandcastle and BE take BE. The drive beats the long walk and it isnt very clean(from my experience).

...I think you know what I mean't.

Peninsula!

I actually liked the Sandcastle Suites. Sure, the walk was long, but we had the Magnum turnaround outside the window (nice). Sandcastle isn't really a choice, since none of their rooms are open while we plan on being there.
I like BE. the rooms are the basic 2 queen beds and are clean. when you pay for parking at the toll booth, you are given a "ticket". Putting that in your windshield allows you to leave and return in the same day. It does not cover two days of parking (toll for the causeway is included in the parking fee).

We used to stay at Sandcastle which is older than Breakers East. We liked the suites because we could close off the bedroom area while our son slept. The last time we stayed the rooms seemed a little "old", but were definitely not dirty.

If you buy the "package" for BE, you get a parking pass for the 2 days you are there together with the tickets, breakfast for each day, etc. That parking pass gets you in the parking lot or the causeway. Actually, truth be told, the attendants didn't even seem to look at the dates on my parking pass when I drove through and parked by soak city. Like I said before, for the price, BE is the better deal in my opinion. But, I am a person that just likes a clean room, clean pool area, and friendly staff.

FYI, BE also has a washer and dryer if you need it. The only thing I didn't particularly like is the "smoking floor" (which we didn't stay on, but friends did), stunk. I guess with everyone smoking that is to be expected though. I had no problems at all with where I stayed.

i liked the sandcastle as well, i had a lot better time there than staying off the point

I stay at Lighthouse Point this year and it was great. The cottage was very clean and had a nice location. The only downside was the walk, but CP has shuttles that will come and take you to whatever entrance you want for free. Staying on-site is the way to go.

Does BE have anything available for breakfast? I am staying there in a week and was wondering if we were on our own for finding some simple breakfast items.
Looks like I'll be at BE. Hotel Breakers was full. Just to clarify, when staying at BE, CP parking is included/reimbursed/etc? I forgot to say this earlier, but thanks for all the input everybody has posted.
BE has Krispy Kreme and Otis Spunkmeyer for breakfast with Juice, etc. McDonalds is across the street.

As far as parking, it is my impression that you have to pay for parking unless you buy the "package", which includes breakfast, parking and CP tickets. We found the package the cheapest way to go if you are staying 2 nights.

if you are at express and do not purchase the package you do need to pay the 8 dollar parking toll and it is not reimbursed.
Someone once told me that if you stay at Hotel Breakers, you are allowed to enter into the park an hour early? Is there any truth behind this?

Yes. You are given a 30 minute exclusive ride time from 9 am until 9:30 if you stay at any Cedar Point resort. You share that exclusive ride time with Joe Cool Club season pass holders.
