CP Fun Facts

Did you know?

There are exactly 220 steps to Raptor's lift hill
The "chain" that takes you up the lift hill is called the "pick up chain"
Those "seagulls" you ALWAYS hear at the picnic pavillon and at Maggie's platform are just recordings of seagulls
You can't buy gum ANY where at the park
You can buy cigarettes (blech) at the marina store for $5.00 pack (yikes!)
Before park opens in the a.m. ALL the toilet paper is removed and the bathroom is literally "hosed" down
Think MF is fast? The trains actually have the capability (given the space and time) to reach speeds of over 100mph

Don't worry, there's no test on any of this!! :)

Isn't there a gumball machine in front of Pagoda?

Exactly HOW do they hose down toilet paper? Doesn't it get all soggy and ruined? I've been inside the bathrooms near Soak City and Challenge Park that's located inthe parking lot... empty with toilet paper everywhere!? Strange...

Read it more carefully, that would be a mess if they did though, wouldn't it? :)

It takes 8 hours or more to clean the park after each day.  From Midnight to about 9am with a break (of course).. This includes changing trash bags, dumping all the dumpsters to picking up miscellaneous debris.  Now that's impressive, having worked this job myself.

The official job description is here...  Night Trash Removal in Center of Page.

Mill Force - 25 laps (1 lap in a cold light snow 10-27-2001)
Magnum - 15
Gotta love that airtime on Blue Streak...

...which is sadly one of the few things that the Discovery Channel missed on World's Largest Amusement Park.
Imagine how long the show would be if they included all of these fun facts! :)

There is also a gum ball machine in the Power Station as well as outside Pagoda.

I wonder how long it takes if they don't nap? Not that I ever saw that while working my overnight landscaping shift :)

Oh we never pulled up a bench, or parked our trucks...  He he   Neither did the manager either....  :)
Anyways I had to wake up a ticket person in a ticket booth before. But for kindness I won't tell where I did that at..

Has any one ever got a gumball from those machines? I personally have not.

AHA! I know what Dan's talking about... I remember cuz my sister wanted a quarter while I was in the pagoda to get gum.... ahhh memories....

I personally think the Discovery Show would be alot more interesting if they had those fun facts.

I counted 289 stairs to the top of Magnum's lift.  Shari counted 288.  Andy says it is 289.  Whatever number Frank was giving in his spiels WAS a bunch of bull. :)
As for the seagulls being a recording, tell that to somone (me) who got crapped on by them three times this season!   I think that tied for the lead in that department.

Nightime landscaping....now THAT would be a job I'd love. Maybe I'll have to check that out after I retire from my current job in 3 years.

You can also get smokes at the Campground store if I remember correctly..

I DO reemember that if you're doing a night-time photo shoot of a VertiGo construction. Make sure to bring enough film as the price in the campground store is ABSOLUTLY INSANE (no pun intended, ok.. yeah it was).

OK-I've been corrected on the gum issue, I completely forgot about those gumball machines outside! (Wonder how many times I had passed them?) Rob I know that a small thing of bologna in the campground store was almost 4.00 so I imagine the film would be just as INSANE! I could never be THAT hungry or desperate for pictures!

It's insane even for the cheap 200 speed stuff. 400 speed is around $13 for a roll. That's sick becuase you can get two of those 4 roll packs for just a little more money.
pretty simple idea though...

Location.. location.. location..

It's a captive market.. I KNOW I would have missed some good photo's if I had run to Meijer to get the film. So I refer to it as a "convenience fee"
