CP announcement date?

Didn't they announce WT on like november 19th or 20th last year? If so maybe they'll anounce this one this week.

Just can't live in that negative way... Make way for the positive Day

Everything is pointing to an announcement in January, you just need to read through the pages. Heck the only thing the announcement will even be good for are the stats and name, we pretty much know everything else. :)
Is there anything else, other than type of coaster and company?

Six Flags: The AOL of Theme parks...

We already know this a Rocket Coaster made by Intamin, all the announcement will tell us is how tall it is, speed, and name..

Which is exactly what we want to know.

"Sit down right, hold on tight, and enjoy your flight on Shivering Timbers!!"

I was thinking that maybe it would've been today or really soon because the season pass prices raise. But nothing has happened yet so we'll see.

I'm hoping by the end of the month. It just seems really dumb to wait until January. Their free publicity is wearing thin, and besides, why would the GP care any more about this in January than they would now?

"If you're standing in an uncomfortable position, that means you are in the right position because you are riding Mantis!" - Mantis ride op doing spiels on closing day.

I'm tired of waiting, c'mon already. We all know it's an up and down, all we want to know is the height (better be 400+). Now that I think about it, just up and down kinda sux (not worth waiting 3 hours for a 15 second ride). I would really like to see some turns and zero gravity humps like MF. Looks like there's no other track or supports in the parking lot so I guess that's what we're getting. Too bad....................hope I'm wrong.

So it's a launch-top hat-brakes, get over it. Just imagine the insane airtime on this thing!

To bad it isn't just up and down! For those who haven't figured it out yet the ride is going to do a heartline twist on the down side (The far side.) If u have no limits similuator download my creation of the ride to see the actual layout. The name of the ride is "Cedar Point, Number 16 with 270 degree twist" Search for it and download it. Then tell me what u think!

Wicked Twister is a great ride! Just because it looks simple soesn't mean it sucks! I wouldn't mind having it in my back yard!

OK first off how is that even related to the topic of this thread? And second of all DUH we all ready knew that about the twist. And finally your simulation is pretty bad.

Maybe it will be in January. That's when you are fried on winter, well I am anyway. Start planning and looking forward to summer around then, after the holidays are out of the way....and they are getting tons of free publicity on it. Why not ride that out?
Wow! What a nice post, coaster runner. I believe we were talking about what we know now, and a twist wasn't mentioned. I don't know what to think about the twisting. I think I would rather have a straight down drop, but regardless, a vertical drop is going to be amazing. As for the announcement, I really don't know what to think, I just come here and click on Area 51 hoping to find some new info. I hope we don't have to wait until January, though.

I was looking at the photos today when it suddenly hit me--they're going to announce it just as they hang the tallest segment of track.

There's absolutely, positively no way in freakin' Hades they'd crown the top of the tallest ride on the planet without loading up the hype cannons and giving both barrels to the world.

To think it was so simple!

That sounds like a good idea CoastaPlaya. But wouldnt it be cool if they announced it durring the Super Bowl! I mean, what more of an advertisement could you ask for?

------------------
Screamsters 2001
MF/Screamsters 2002
What if there was also a #17 in 2003?

The suits LOVE positive TV exposure. But they won't spend $450,000 for a spot on superbowl.

------------------
I'm not an old fogey, I'm just an old coaster rider..

The SuperBowl might be possible but it really depends on the weather. IMO, they are not going to announce the specs and all till the ride is almost completely finished. I have to believe that a lot of people's interest will fade a little once they know exactly what CP has in store for them this spring. (Note: that does not include just about everyone here) You know, it's kinda like knowing what you are getting for Christmas. (not that I would ever snooped) :) If CP exec's are trying something new this year it might be some kind advertising or something with the web site. (hits means money!) Maybe Guiness will give them the record for most extreme ride LIVE on the internet. Maybe this is the only way the Intamin engineer's families could see their loved ones. Who knows what the new thing they are trying is but it is clear that they want us glued to their web site. Probably why they started early so more people knew they to check for progress at the web site. They changed the cams again so that if you are home at night or in another part of the world you can still see an update of the progress after dark.

I just cannot figuere out what CP is trying with all the hush hush. Probably some awesome reverse psycology (sp?) for word of mouth advertising. (rumors and gossip better than news) Why not tell us and send us out into the world with drool on our chins to gossip about #16. I don't know but when that day come i hope i have some of those super absorbent paper towels near. #16 will be awesome no matter the track layout.

(in homer simpson voice) mmmmmmm400+ft mmmmmmm
