CP Addiction

So, it is that time in the off season where all I can think about is getting back into the park. It’s to the point where that’s all I can think about. And this is becoming a problem because it’s keeping me up at night. I’d be laying in bed at night about to fall asleep, and then start thinking about something CP related, and then BOOM, I’m up for another three hours. If only the park opened sooner :( Anyone else going through this stage?

Sleepless nights about CP usually happen right after credit card statements come.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

Once the bulk of winter comes, I think about CP a lot as a way to cope until the spring. Once the first good days of spring come, then my thoughts can subside to other topics, until a week or two before my planned visit. Then CP consumes my thoughts again.

I always feel a little melancholy on Closing Day and look forward to Opening Day. But I don't think I have ever lost sleep over it.

I usually start getting the CP itch right around the time I do my taxes, as my annual trip is usually paid for by my return. I do my taxes and I immediately start playing around with the Breakers booking site, toying with when to go- namely, what's the earliest I can get away with without compromising anything I really like (Luminosity, water rides, etc.) I start doing budgeting in my head, how much I want to save up to play with while I'm there, what extra things if any I want to do.

So... yeah. I'm gonna have CP on the brain from now till the second full week of June, and after that I'll hsve fun reading about what you guys are up to and how you're enjoying the season, check here from time to time during the offseason to discuss new reveals/developments, rinse, repeat.

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

The earlier openings of Carowinds and Kings Island helps.

Winter Chill Out this weekend should give me the boost I need to make it until the end of April. Been counting down the days for close to a month now.

Lol, I don't lose sleep, but I've been in the middle of class and CP pops into my mind randomly, and then I recall a memory that makes me grin. I'm sure my classmates probably think something is wrong with me, like I think the lecture is funny or something XD

I've actually done some CP drawings and the like, and my dreams have gotten kind of weirder.

During the dead of winter I go through a period where I really don't think about it too much except for things like debating whether or not to put skates on when I take my kids to go roller skating and thinking if I break something now I might miss opening or be out of work long enough to not be able to afford the gas for as many trips as I'd like. That kind of stuff pops in my head and I occasionally watch POVs on youtube but I wouldn't say I'm actually jonesing.

same here, paisley. I usually just look at povs sometimes and also the live webcams. I also just look at funny stuff. Here are a few things I found:

For the second video, I can't tell what's funnier. The pause, the sketch or the side by side. XD I was laughing hard at this for 5 minutes honestly.

I’m not sure that’s even possible.

I’ve lived through 55 seasons. I can wait for the next one. It always comes.
I remember back in 1990 when Mean Streak was announced I was thrilled to see that the park would be getting a taller, longer, faster, better version of Texas Giant. I showed the rendering to the gal that sat next to me at work, and she asked if I was excited for such a huge ride. I got a little upset when I thought about how long I had to wait. I said “I’m afraid something’s going to happen to me and I won’t get to ride”. She just laughed a little and so kindly said “Oh, honey. Nothing’s going to happen to you and you’ll be there and you’ll be the first in line. Wait and see.”
I felt more than a little foolish and took that opportunity to grow up a little.

Skyhawk06, I cry laughing every time I see that second video! I like the part at the end when they compare the actual guy with the sketch and the guy loses it XD!

Honestly, I think we should just all keep ourselves occupied with personal goals and keep the opening day in mind. I've been doing that so far, and it works. I've been trying to keep up with college and high school, get a new car(totaled my first one), and do more drawings. But don't get excited to the point where you burn yourself out.

I'm pretty overweight and I'm very anxious about whether or not I'll fit into Steel Vengeance. About the whole thing you said about something happening to you and you won't be able to ride, well, it could happen. I pretty much worry about everything due to anxiety and a strong fear of failure.

I've been trying to lose some weight since the beginning of the year. So far, I'm down 12.5 pounds. Hoping to lose about 24 to get my weight down to an even 200 pounds. Hopefully, I'll have less trouble with Wicked Twister this year after losing some weight.

Same here. A few problems present for me are that our house scale was broken and the last time I got weighed was in a trauma ward because I lost control of my mustang on an icy road and crashed into a fire hydrant. Of course they had me keep my shoes on when I was weighed. I'm trying to loose 20 pounds so I can get to 230. Thabalto, did Millennium or TTD give you any trouble?

Reminded me of a funny story. I grew up about three hours away from CP. Back in high school in the late 80's, we had a history and economics teacher (also wrestling and football coach) who was from Sandusky and had worked at CP prior to becoming a teacher. I think he may have been a security guard, but not sure anymore. Anyway, it was a common (and often successful) tactic for us to try to get him off on CP story tangents and away from teaching economics. We would try to see if we could get him to waste an entire class period (54 minutes) without any class instruction. Unfortunately, I cannot remember any of his actual stories now, but it was far more interesting than learning about the supply and demand bell curve!

Fast forward 30 years and I now live in Sandusky and my current chiropractor was one of that teacher's best friends in high school who he is still in regular contact with. Almost every time I go in for an adjustment, he brings up my old high school and home town in some fashion.

Good Times!

Proud to have fathered a second generation coaster enthusiast destined to keep me young at heart and riding coasters with a willing partner into my golden years!
