I got into CP just after 4:00 on Thursday and found that my mom had already checked in and had been there since 2:00. We were in the Bon Aire section of Breakers (thanks for all those who gave input - great choice!) and had a nice room (although mom didn't like the fact that there was no elevator - we were only on the 2nd floor, oy!). I dropped my bags in the room and we were off to Millie (my 3rd time, her first). We waited maybe 20 minutes and lucked into the second row of the first car. Mom was very excited and there were 2 nice guys in front of us (yellow shirts) that seemed to get a kick out of the 50 year old MF virgin . We had a great ride and mom loved it!
We were able to hit Gemini, Magnum, DT, another ride on MF and had dinner at Macaroni's before the park closed (we had been in the park for about an hour when I realized I hadn't eaten since 11:00 am and was very hungry). We then used our package tickets for Challenge Park for go-karts and a round of mini-golf (I was not very impressed with the go-karts, they all go exactly the same speed, so unless you have dumb drivers you can't really pass anyone - ah well, part of the package). We then retired for the evening to get an early start in the morning.
Friday we were out of the room by 8:30 and down to breakfast at TGIFriday's (buffet was so-so, I really just wanted a bagel and some fruit, not a huge meal). And then in line at the Oceana gate for our early admission. WT was down so we went back to MF. First ride was a walk-on and the second was only 3 trains (my idea of lines!). We then hit Wildcat since there was no line yet and then worked our way through the park.
As we worked our way to the front of the park we found that WT had opened up so we got in line and only had a 5 min wait. People are so funny about the swaying towers! It was a MUCH better ride than I thought it was going to be. We really enjoied it and thought it was a unique experience - a great addition to CP! Mom kept saying it didn't look very fast, but she changed her opinion once we were on!
Mean Streak wasn't as bad as the last time I rode it, but man that first hill trim sucks! We rode Gemini again and got tossed around pretty badly (hmmm, not used to this being that rough!). Spaced our coaster riding with a few flat rides - it was VERY windy throughout the morning, so Raptor didn't open until mid-afternoon and skyride was closed all day.
We then saw a short line on Magnum and decided to ride again - it was THE ROUGHEST ride I have ever had on this coaster - I actually felt a bit ill coming off of it and somewhat bruised, MS was nicer to me than Friday's ride on Magnum . We both decided to take a late afternoon break and went back to Breakers for a swim. After an hour of cooling off we felt refreshed enough to go back into the park.
We got in line for Raptor (longest line of the day at 45 minutes) and while in the station waiting for our train, some poor girl puked on the platform - kudos for the speedy cleanup by the ride ops! We were in line for the 2nd row and there were three people in front of us, so we expected to wait one more train when the front row only had two people and no one else in the front row line was a group of two, so we got front row seats on Raptor! Neither of us had ever been in the front, so this was a rare treat. Had a great ride except for one spot after the midcourse where my head got banged pretty hard. Thanks to the op that let us move up to the front!
We were also able to hit Demon Drop, and Power Tower, plus a few flat rides (no spin-n-pukes though) before we headed back toward MF to check out the line. It was about an hour and we decided to skip it as it was 7:00 and we were getting hungry for dinner. I stopped to get some cotten candy and a carmel apple to take with me on the way out and we headed back to Breakers to drop stuff off and drive over to the Bay Harbor for dinner.
Had a wonderful dinner - highly recommend this restaurant (again thanks to those who suggested this when I asked about the Bon Aire section of Breakers a few months ago) and went back to the room. Cable was out, so down to the beach to relax for awhile and then off to bed. Breakfast at the Boathouse (huge fruit plate with a bagel for breakfast - took the grapes home with me) and back on the road for a 5 hour trip.
Had a wonderful time, and Mom was happy with some quality Mother-Daughter time (perfect length of time for me, I love my mom, but 2 days is about right!). Thanks for all the input when I was planning my trip (just reading through the posts gave me a lot of tips and tricks). Thanks Jeff for the site, a great resource!
