This is my 3rd time I'm applying and I'm having no luck getting hired for the past two years. Maybe I'm just bad at interviews, especially on the phone, but I'm very enthusiastic when it comes to interviews. It just that some of the situational/"tell me a time when.." questions gets me every time and having trouble listening to the questions they asked. I keep saying "huh?" Or "what?". It gets me every time! Do any of you guys have any tips of what can I do to succeed the interview without make it awkward?
Well interviews are scary no matter if you are Bill Gates or Chris Rock interviews are scary and nerv recking. What you want to do is get your nerves in check. Also put the phone on speaker. Turn up your volume to max or use bluetooth head set. As far as questions go those are really tough the only interview I ever passed was cp smh out of 22 year I only ever go 1 real normal job that was cp only reason i got hired was because they hire anyone who is willing to work. Only problem for me this year is LAst year i left on bad terms so rehire for me is hard only because i did not finish my contract and i was wrote up for being late
You have to relax no matter how nervous you are, appear confident. No one wants to higher someone who is a nervous wreck. also stay focus, even if you don't know how to answer at least try. Saying "huh" or "what". those are bad things to do, it shows this person isn't attentive & what will happen on the job. This was my first job & first interview, I thought I wouldn't get it, because on some questions, it was complex, with them being thrown at me. But I was confident on the ones I had a great response for. Some things to remember they'll ask you, your strengthens & weaknesses. why do you want this job etc.. just look some things up and practice.
Latrice, your advice is very good. But, I had to read it three times before I understood what you were saying. Pay attention to your grammar. Good grammar makes for better communication. Good grammar will help you in your interview and in turn it will help you get a job at Cedar Point. Before hitting the submit button reread what you have written. Good luck and pay attention to your grammar.

Wait whose grammar is bad? Me or Latrice? If it's me then I'm truely sorry! I will re-read the post once I'm done typing and make sure there are any grammaritical (spelling check?) errors that needs to be solved right away.
Thanks for the advice, but this isn't for the job. I didn't ask for your advice :-)
I know how to talk, type, and write for a job. Are you hiring me?
During your interview just calm down, realize that the person interviewing you wants to hire you or else they wouldn't be wasting their time. If you've been through previous interviews before, you already have an idea of what kind of questions they are going to ask, so write them down along with answers for them. The day before or morning of your interview, practice some of the answers you have written down to those questions and even have them handy during the interview as a reference.
Don't feel like you have to rush and answer every question as fast as possible. Interviewers understand how nervous people can be while interviewing and usually prefer you to take a few seconds to think before answering.
Something that I do when I'm doing a phone interview, is a type information that I think will be relevant to the position prior to interviewing. That way, I don't forget any important information due to nervousness. Also, try to smile while you're interviewing! Even though they can't see you, they'll be able to hear it. Maybe try to meditate prior to your interview as well, so that you can calm down a bit. And always, make sure you do research about the company before interviewing!

2013: Co-Team Leader of Sky Ride
2014: Supervisor of Slingshot/Skyscraper
"huh" and "what" are not acceptable. A more appropriate response would be "I'm sorry?", "excuse me", or "can you please repeat the question". Practice your interview! You know what they are going to ask you from your previous experience! Don't feel stupid doing it either. Anybody who wants a job will practice their interview so they sound on top of their game! Relax and be sincere to the interviewer. Ask how they are doing, laugh if they laugh, do everything you can to seem interested and to stay focused.
This my second year appying. I already had an over the phone interview, but I think I kind of messed up :( I applied early December. On my application status it says my application was reviewed on 1/28/2014 I don't know what that means though.
