couple cp questions

First of all does any1 know if the a frame chalets are still available to be rented?..

What is the min. age to rent at lighthouse point?

What are the groups feelings about CP building a ride that goes out over the lake?

Don't know.

Don't know.

Never gonna happen.

I don't think so.

The rest of the properties are age 21, so I would think Lighthouse Point would be the same.

Doubt it, but you never know.

SFDL's Superman is built partially over water, and so are other coasters. I don't see why Cedar Point couldn't do that.

They don't OWN the land under the water.. Pretty simple answer..

Alot of rides are built over water that freezes. That's not the issue.. Land rights on the other hand..

I don't know if CP's resorts fall under the same laws as the City of Sandusky but within Sandusky city limits. Law states you must be 21 to rent a room.

Never gonna happen. The government would never sell any part of Lake Erie or Sandusky Bay to Cedar Point for development purposes.

oUluvDT2, doesnt cp own part of lake erie ( i believe the beaches on the CP peninsula are private CP property) and plus, what makes you so sure that they would never be sold construction rights to build out on lake erie. Also, at one time, there was a "ride" out on lake erie. If you look in the Cedar Point "Queen of Watering Places" book (i believe) there is a picture of a swing ride over lake erie. Also, freezing is not a factor (in response to an earlier post), just look at bridges built over water (basically same concept), and also Mantis' supports are in water.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing about Bridges and things like that. Also, the lagoon is drained so Mantis' supports are unaffected.

Cp could very well get building rights, Its just like building bridges or Marina's or any other things built on water. Its a good possibility.

I dont think CP would do it any time soon, But CP is going to run out of room some time. They would have to build the footers a little higher. And it would be REALLY expensive. I mean REALLY expensive. Imagine all the footers would have to extend underwater. I dont think its that deep though.

They do rent out the A-frames. Atleast they have been in the past years. Last season you could reserve them.

I believe bridges are considered "Right-of-Ways" just like most people's tree lawns. And yes Cedar Point owns their beaches, but where the water begins the government owns.

The A-Frames are mostly used for VIPs now, but I belive that you are still able to reserve them on a VERY limited basis.

21 is the age for Lighthouse Point

Gravity's right...never gonna happen. Cody, just remember that SFDL does own the lake that superman is built over and the water level is controlled so that it doesn't freeze around the steel. Can't really control Erie like that.

The ice shifting on Lake Erie has just a bit more force than that little pond at SFDL or the lagoon Mantis is built over.

While I would believe it's possible to build a structure strong enough to handle the pressure, I doubt it would be practical. Getting the legal rights to build out there seems possible as well, considering there's plenty of private boat docks and such built into the lake.

If they were able to get the building rights, couldnt they build a breaker wall around the area used? Just like at the Marina. This would eliminate ice shifting, freezing, and boats as well.

Yes the Red Garter has beer, but you can't take it in line with you.

That 'If' is a big one! This goes along with the fact that they would have to get that all approved by the Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees all shoreline construction and modification on all of the Great Lakes. And believe me, from experienece, this people can be great to work with, because they gave us a grant to build the wall we built on Sandusky Bay, or they can be hell to work with. But they don't care how much money you have, their only concern is what happens to the waterfront.

It certainly is possible to build structures on the lake or bay. Just look at the tall steel range markers that guide boats into the bay through the shipping channel. They are built on heavy duty concrete footers, the same can be done to support roller coaster supports. Building on the lake is not a technological problem, it's just more expensive and requires special permits which may be harder to get.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

My understanding is the the Cabins are just as nice, if not nicer, than the A-Frames so go to Lighthouse Point and forget about the traffic.

I live very close to cedar point, on the lake, and i know at least 5 of my friends whos parents have had break walls built in the back of their properties that extend myabe 70 feet or so into the lake. And these people are not incredibly rich. Take a boat ride from Sandusky to Vermilion you'll seen plenty of private break walls.

Stay in the older section of the Breakers as it is much cheaper and you wont have to worry about your trailer oops I mean cabin blowing away during a lake Dreary Squall!

About the resorts in general (mostly Breakers Express) is the minimum age 21 for ALL resorts?

Thanks!
