Could this boost attendance?

When we were there Saturday night from Magnum the Breakers lot looked full.

Not to burst the bubble of the low prices thing, but I got a group of 10 or so $30 tickets each with the Christmas in July thing that happened last week.

By reports of recent sec filings CF is on track for another record year, why run deals that counter what is already helping them break prior records.

More people is not what's necessary to bring in more revenue. Offering people more incentives to spend their money is what is working for CF, and this trend seems to be expanding.

The ultra low budget/ low prices failed for six flags and is not a good business model to follow. Bringing in more people with little or no disposable income does nothing to help the bottom line.

Over on CoasterBuzz this is known as "Gonchanomics"... Manageable crowds spending more money in the park (or hotels) = $$PROFIT$$. Also usually translates to repeat visits because guests have a more enjoyable experience.

I don't know where people are seeing low crowds, it seems pretty typical attendance to me. I think July 4th wasn't as crowded because they had 4 days of fireworks. Historically, July 4th was super busy because everyone came to see fireworks on that one day.

I agree that CP is focusing on special events and premium experiences that bring in people with higher income/more disposable income. Fast Lane, valet parking, Sunrise Thrills, beach and pool drink and food service, etc. are all aimed at people who come with money to spend.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I would have taken advantage of that myself if the tickets were good longer. One thing that's pretty much guaranteed, the last weekend those tickets are good will be a mad house.

Which comes to 300 bucks. Unless they're for someone(s) other than yourself, wouldn't a season pass be cheaper?

"Group of 10" seems to be a pretty good clue that they are not for one person.

Why would that be a clue? A "group of 10 or so $30 tickets" could certainly be used on one day by a group of ten individuals, but could also be 10 tickets for the same person to use over 10 visits. Right?

Actually, I don't care what the guy did or why.

Because I know a large family that was visiting today actually from Chicago, so I got them tickets so they paid me back.

Well they could certainly REDUCE parking instead of INCREASE it... This year especially. I noticed they have it fluctuating now. You don't know what the price will be until getting up to the toll booth. Opening weekend it was $18, went down to $15 the following week, and last week when I went it was $20!! Ridiculous and pretty rude too..

Or, maybe, just maybe, this is a business and they've decided to fluctuate it based on projected attendance for that particular day or weekend. They want to maximize revenue potential and they know they generally have a captive audience. Besides, another way to look at it is, if there are more season passholders than ever before, they're no longer capturing revenue from those people. They somehow need to make up for it, and raising prices, no matter how much we hate it, does that for them.

It's not like you have Matt Ouimet and Jason McClure in an office thinking, "Hmmm, how can we piss off CoasterGuy15 and his friends. Oh, I know! Let's raise the parking when they come to the park. Bwahahaha!"

^^Do you also think it's rude when you get gas for $2.06 and then the next week when you fill up its $2.09?

What Sparty42 said. You don't like that a business varies the price of its parking? Don't patronize that business.

If you can't afford a few dollars variation in the price of parking, maybe you shouldn't be going there in the first place.

I get what CoasterGuy15 is saying and understand where he's coming from. Keep the price at one steady price all year instead of playing the Yo-yo game with it.

...but if I can earn $5 more on some days, why shouldn't I charge more on those days?

I think the important thing is what are they advertising parking prices as online? Is there any mention that the price fluctuates? Do they advertise the highest price and then if you're there on the lower priced days it's a pleasant surprise or will people show up having been given the impression that they need $15 only to find out they need $20?

Like this post for no reason.

A round of drinks and shots for 5 people at Surf lounge was $76 , before tip.

After $600 myself, last night I woke up late, head hurts, Wallet is lighter and I'm still happy we had a great time at the bar.

And I couldn't care less how much parking is

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

^ That's a great attitude to have there XS Nightclub! You're Awesome!

Right now Valravn is the draw and Cedar Fair is profiting (which is a job well done!). They are running the right combo of pricing, promotions, incentives, deals, discounts, etc for the crowd that Valravn is bringing in to post record revenues. Question is, will it work for them again next season when they don't have such a big attraction?
