Corkscrew's 25th Anniversary

Just want everyone's opinion. Since 2001 marks Corkscrew's 25th anniversary, do you think CP will do anything special to advertise this? Also, do you think they might gift it a facelift (i.e. new trains, a new paint job. Heck, adding a tunnel on that long straightaway after the corkscrew would be a good idea to add some excitement)?
I'm sure they will do SOMETHING, but probably nothing drastic. I think that the Corkscrew trains were re-painted this year.
It will be Mean Streaks 10th anniversary next year and I think they are going to get new trains for Mean Streak.

For Corkscrew's 25th, I would tear it down and build a GOOD looper, like a B&M. Just kidding, but CP does need a good looping sitdown coaster.

Only 2,290½ miles from Cedar Po!nt.
Don't even THINK about tearing that down, even though Walter & Claude make fun rides!
Corkscrew is a VERY important part of the Midway and it would be a HUGE shame to see it go. CP should do something for it's 25th anniversary though. I would love to see something new on that ride...

PS-If MS got new trains, I would hope these would give a smoother ride but if it doesn't, oh well
If the corkscrew is such a huge part of the midway then why are there no lines for the corkscrew?
Judging by that last statement, Magnum should also be demolished. I haven't waited over fifteen minutes (on busy days) for this ride.

Just because you don't see a line doesn't mean lines never get long. Lines for Corkscrew often get up to an hour or more. Sometimes longer than the parks other "big" coasters.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
I don't know if they'll do anything publicly, but when Blue Streak had a birthday, we had an employee party and ride night.

If you have a 1989 park souvenir map, on the inside where they usually have a graphic of what is new that year, they did a split with Blue Streak's 25th and Magnum's introduction. I don't recall if they did anything else that year for Blue Streak.

EVERY coaster in the CP family is important. They are all part of what makes CP unique. They also give CP their claim to most coasters in a single park. CP will not remove a coaster unless they are planning on building two in the same year (even then I would doubdt it). I like the Corkscrew. Its not my favorite by any means but I always ride it at least once when I visit. I like the hop after the first drop. Besides if roughness and low ridership were reasons for removal then Kennywood would be removing Steel Phantom (OOPS! Nevermind!).
The topic is not removal of Corkscrew, it's what would you like to see happen to it for it's 25th anniversary, if anything. A fresh paint job at the very least would be nice. Adding a tunnel or two would be extreme, but nice. New trains, even though they cleaned the current ones, would be real sharp.

Why would you replace the trains? Why fix what isn't broken? They did clean them up quite a bit for this year, and I suspect that if they come up with a logo that doesn't look so Seventies, they'll slap it on the new trains.

The year Blue Streak "turned" 25 along with Magnum being introduced it was also the 100(?) anniversary of the Roller Coaster.
I kind of like the retro logo. =)

I think the 100th aniversery of the roller coaster at Cedar Point was in 1992. The Today Show did a live remote from the Mean Streak.

Bruce, no lines for corkscrew? Yesterday, I had the longest wait for corkscrew I've ever had! The whole line was full, the WHOLE thing, it was even reaching out onto the midway. I don't know if this was just becuase of the TTR (crap) or not, but I think it was.

Allow me to bring up this quote by Jeff from Coasterbuzz concerning the Steel Phantom:

"Arrow trains are collar breakers and should be destroyed"
I dare say that Steel Phantom is a bit more intense than the Corkscrew.

In all honesty, and I know people will go off their rocker when I say this, but I've had rougher rides on Corkscrew than I've ever had on Steel Phantom. I never get off of SP with a headache or anything remotely like that. Just a feeling of being light on my feet. (Sort of like, numb.)

However, a few times on Corkscrew, I got banged around quite a bit and had a headache for a few hours.
