^Mean Streak had a auto-spiel?

While I think it is great, I still miss MF, WT, and TTD's auto-spiel. There's something about that voice saying "Welcome to ______" that makes me get goosebumps. The live-spiels just don't serve justice.

Magnum and other rides that had spiels were awful though.

You know, I was wondering that myself......
I've always head a live spiel on Mean Streak.....last year I mean.

I'm confused, you're the one who said it. Or does MS mean something else?

Sadly, I think we're going to see this needless seatbelt trend continue. The first ride I noticed them on at King's Island was Top Gun, and all I could say was, "well, Cedar Fair has been here." CF certainly hasn't gotten the crews up to standards on safety checks though. I can only think of a couple of times yesterday that anyone actually touched my lap bar during restraint checks, and nobody was looking at seat belts. A friend of mine, who has experience in CP ride operations, was appalled. He left his seatbelt off on Vortex just to see if the crew would even notice while checking, and as we suspected, no one said anything. Of course he buckled it himself as soon as we were out of the station. Outside of this though, it was a wonderful day to be at King's Island.

Back on topic, I am glad to hear the Screw and Dragging Iron won't have recorded spiels. I am worried that adding seatbelts to ID will force the ride into a permanent 2 train operation, as ID's blocking system won't allow any extra time for a train to be in the station. I hope that they will fix Corkscrew's belts and do them the way Vortex and Top Gun's were done, it'll make things move a lot faster and keep people from getting whacked in the head by the stupid belt.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I really dont know why they put another seat belt on corkscrew..i know it may be to play it safe but..it was fine when it wasnt there..now its just annoying, well for me anyway.

Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27

Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-

Loopy, you're correct, I did miss the work retractable in your post. I always thought that retractable seatbelt would makes sense on those types of rides, I guess that someone is finally trying it.

I still think that seatbelts on Iron Dragon are needless but, I suppose if they are being made to accomodate the same people as the original ride did then it should be okay.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Well I read Mean Streak in maXaiRaptors first post and just put it in my post. But I guess we'll never know now as he deleted it....

^Got it, but I'm pretty sure MS never had an auto-spiel even before last season.

Yeah, I definatly had to think about that one.

But then I remember closing day and some other memorable rides where a ride op would be funny and ask questions about MS's heigth and crack jokes about it being in the top ten wooden coasters list for 2006.:)

There was a link around here once to a page of some of the funniest ride ops spiels I've ever read, and it went to show how much more fun a ride could be with the ride ops doing the spiel. I wish I had that link...

Yay for the spiels coming back. :)

Spiels suck unless they're auto. :) The one thing I remember about last season was the moronic ride ops at Gemini. I couldn't understand ANYTHING they were saying and it was just causing confusion in the station. The ops could barely speak English, weren't talking into the mic correctly and were just babbling about nothing.

Maybe I just have bad luck, but the only ride I've ever had good live spiels on at Cedar Point was Raptor.

Auto spiels make it go faster, but live spiels make the atmospher better.

I just want the yellow of ID to go away. ;) I'm reminded of McDonalds every time I see it. I'd love to see it colored and themed like a dragon- dark greens for the supports, black for the spine, and maybe a lighter green for the rails. And paint the trains in varying colors so there's like a black train, a green train, etc.

Looking forward to Cedar Point- July 4th-5th, 2007!

^That was off topic. You get reminded of McDonalds every time you see something red and orange; that's actually strange.

There's one guy who has worked at Gemini for the last 2 years I think. He is an older-than-average ride up but says the funniest things. On the Saturday of Closing Weekend last year my friends and I were seeking shelter in the Gemini station waiting for the rain to let up and he was cracking so wierd but funny jokes. I wish I remembered his name.

Are you actually suggesting CP theme another ride? ;)

take it from someone that actually works on Iron Dragon....the sit belts will be difficult if we get them. I don't know if we are or not but hey we will make the spiels fun. *** Edited 4/23/2007 8:52:14 PM UTC by little_angie*** *** Edited 4/23/2007 8:52:46 PM UTC by little_angie***
