Sweet! the auto spiels made the station atmosphere seem pretty boring. The ride ops usually do a great job of pumping people up.

Oh yeah like they guy I saw on Gemini that would not stop talking about the 25 cent Cotton Candy.

This is kinda off topic but do you think Iron Dragon will get seatbelts because TOPGUN at Kings Island got them today along with Troika, Vortex, Adventure Express?

No they most likely aren't. Just cause KI gets new things doesn't mean CP will.

If I were a betting man, I'd say it will get them.

-Matt

honestly i would love for it to get them, but from a park standpoint i dont think they will.

I should hope ID doesn't get them. It would slow down their current amazing operating speed.

Thrills Around the Corner!

That, along with the fact that they aren't necessary, just like the Corkscrew belts. Once again, we see the results of a lawyer-run business world and a "sue-happy" society.

I am glad to hear about the return of the manual spiels though. :)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

The problem with Top Gun isn't the new belts, it's that there isn't a mid-course block. They can't sent the second train until the first one hits the brakes before the station.

Of course, the new belts on Top Gun today didn't help interval.

Ride on, MrScott!

Why would Iron Dragon need seat belts? Isn't it practically impossible to be ejected from that train?

I guess if they're going with live spiels on ID now, they must be adjusting the interval of the ride. The reasoning for the live spiel they gave me before was the fast interval required an auto-spiel.

Dear Cedar Point,

Please don't add seat belts to Iron Dragon. They are completely unecessary and might make the park even less accessable for larger people. They would also most likely slow down the ride's operation.

Thanks you - Natas

May we all rejoice and yell out a "Hallelujah!" and please pray for no seat belts, amen

It's difficult to get out of the ride when it is parked in the station and the restraints are released. I can't imagine how you would fall out.

If you need seatbelts in ID, somebody's smoking something. On the 'Screw, yeah, maybe, but on ID, NO effin' way! It's cool to hear about no more autospiels. It'll give the crews a chance to spice up things a bit.

Because we all know ride interval is more important than ride safety!

and BGRooDoG How in the heck can you rate a ride you have not been on yet? CP Top 3 1.) Millennium Force 2.) Maverick 3.) Raptor

Just wondering.........

Yeah Rob, we rode Top Gun yesterday and the interval wasn't awful. If CF added them to TG I'm willing to bet they add them to ID.

The female end of the belt is attached to the OTSR, it's a fixed length. It only dangles down about 3 inches.

The male end came from between your legs. They cut a hole in the seat and brought the belt through a plate with a slit in it. It was retractable and wasn't causing them to miss interval, although, like I said before, TG doesn't have a mid-course block.

Vortex also received belts on the OTSR's.

Ride on, MrScott!

arms-down,

Did you make that statement just to pick on me or do you really, truly believe that Iron Dragon has somehow been unsafe for the past 10 plus years.

Like Gomez said, it is difficult to get out of those cars even when the restraints are released and the car is parked in the station. The ride never swings past horizontal and seat belts would be nothing but a new hassle.

Some people with larger upper bodies (myself included, although I should be okay since I lost 50 pounds since last summer and 80 pounds altogether) have trouble getting the seat belts on those types of restraints connected. Iron Dragon has been perfectly safe and has offered rides to pretty much anyone who wanted to go on it since it was built. It would be a shame to change that now. Unfortunately, I am expecting it on my trip this summer. Like I said, it shouldn't affect me, but for anyone that it does affect, it will be one less ride at Cedar Point that they can go on. It will make the park one step closer to being pointless for larger people to visit. And since Cedar Point didn't get any of my money for 6 years straight due to me avoiding the place, I think that these new seatbelts may be going a step too far.

Did you miss my post about them being retractable?

The seat belt didn't change the size of person that can ride the attraction, at least on ID's bigger and better cousin, Top Gun.

I'm glad to hear Vortex now sports seat belts. I won't relate the story of my terrifying ride with unlocked restraints again, but it will certainly make me less intimidated next time I get on it.
