Hey just wanted to post this to see new members of Corkscrew this summer. My name is Greg I am the TL again this year. As many employees know that have worked for me I strive to hit high ridership and really small wait times.Corkscrew has a goal (not set me) but by management to hit 1 million riders for 2008. Which was my goal last year. Although my goal is now 1.1 million to exceed expectations as I always try to do. If your on Corkscrew post here or are highly motivated as I am ask to be on Corkscrew. Thanks!
Retired TL Ride Host 04-09 Miss you Cedar Point!
Greg as you know im not sure where ill be but if i am on corkscrew with you again i promse you that i will do my best to help you hit 1 million. And you know that you dont have to worry with me at controls because my goal is the same as last year to never set up. which i achieved and i will do the same this year.

You do realize that almost every Coaster in the park hits over 1 million riders every year. Not to discredit anything the Dragster crew was a part of, But 1million riders for most modern coasters isnt that hard or great an achievement.
Yeah Daric, your probably right. The one million riders for Dragster was more due to the fact that the ride was up so much this past season. If anything, the maintenance workers should have gotten the recognition, not the crew. The coaster's not that fast paced to begin with. Loading Corkscrew I bet is much more challenging but I'm surprised the ride doesn't get more riders than that to begin with.

Well, in the days before the infamous Corkscrew seatbelt was implemented, one million on Corkscrew was a give-in, even two million in some years in the late nineties. But, the shortening of hours and not using three trains all day, as well as having every guest tug on their seatbelt cut capacity of that ride in half, but sadly that has happened on just about every ride.

Arrow coasters are all designed to run like clockwork. The seatbelts slow everything down.

Let me tell you this....it wasn't a million. You have Alot of things at Corkscrew to deal with. You have to put into account the seatbelts yes and the new weather procedures were a killer. If you look at Corkscrews numbers the last 3 years Corkscrew doesnt hit what it use to the seatbelts were added in 05, that year they didnt hit a million. 06 they barely hit a million last year was horrendous. I mean we now have up to 20 min of additional downtime every sept-oct weekend for the parade.Yea its only 20 minutes but when the line gets flowing then shutsdown it does make a big difference hence you couldve had an additional 500 riders in that 20 minutes if you tried hard enough. White train was not cooperating almost all of last all year.Several Maintenance issues a day which wont affect us in 08. 1 million on corkscrew is alot harder then it seems with its aging thrills and those great dangling hit you in the head belts.
Retired TL Ride Host 04-09 Miss you Cedar Point!
WELL...
Alright, so Corkscrew itself isn't bad. The fact that there is an employee area under the ride is cool, the fact that you get to walk in the maitenance area and get peoples hats, cool as well, the only part that i found annoying was the fact that Corkscrew Crew is also the crew to Super, which is right next door. It's hot in the booth, and very repetitive and boring and there are some lame rules, but you get a great work out! You have to measure the little kids, make sure NOTHING gets on the ride, just like a coaster. But the good part is, you get to listen to the in-park music and if you are me, ( Or Chris who isn't coming back this season, but was one heck of a guy and also is notorious for fighting with the birds on top of the ride, chest bumps, WOOOOO CORKSCREW was his creation) anyways, if you are one of the CrAzY people like we are, you get on the mic and you sing to the songs, making the day go faster and putting a little more joy in the guests day.
An amazing crew it was for the first half of the season. Come July we all scattered around to other rides.

Well, being on the 07 dragster crew...I do credit a lot of our success to the maint. crews, BUT if we didn't work really hard, hitting interval, we wouldn't have made it. So yes the maint. crew gets a ton of credit, but its not fair to say that the crew shouldn't get recongition is stupid.
As far as corkscrew, Greg, I remember counting and trying to hit "interval". I understand the frustration about seatbelts, but I agree with Gomez. A full time crew helps in making goals. Training new people everyother day is frustrating as far as getting the rider count up.

That's true with any ride, and for that matter, nearly any job. Someone who knows their position/job well, is going to be able to more efficient than someone who just learned.

Hi guys!
My names Dan Blanchfield and I'll be the ATL of Corkscrew this summer. I know contracts aren't up yet, but if you happen to get Corkscrew or simply have questions about working at CP for the first time, feel free to send me a message on AIM, Dbski247.
Should be a great summer! This is my second season at Cedar Point and last year I worked primarily at Mantis but also at Millennium and Raptor. Like Greg said, despite the seatbelts we'll try to get the numbers up this year over a million.
Talk to you guys soon, only a little over a hundred days to go :)
