Construction in Michigan.

As of this weekend, getting out of Michigan from anywhere north of Detroit is a real chore. The following roads are out of commission. These were in my road test box this morning. I might have another update Friday. But i don't plan on going to work, so I'll see if someone can fax it to me at home.

THE CONNECTOR RAMP FROM EASTBOUND I-96 TO EASTBOUND I-696 HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS AT THE EASTBOUND M-5 AND EASTBOUND I-696 SPLIT. DETOUR:TRAFFIC IS BEING DIRECTED ONTO EASTBOUND M-5 TO ACCESS THE EASTBOUND I-696 RAMP FROM M-5.

RAMP FROM SOUTHBOUND M-10 TO EASTBOUND I-94 IS CLOSED UNTIL DECEMBER2009.DETOUR:THE TRAFFIC IS DETOURED IN ADVANCE TO EASTBOUND M-8 TO SOUTHBOUND I-75 TO EASTBOUND I-94. MOTORISTS ALSO MAY TAKE SOUTH BOUND M-10 TO NORTHBOUND I-75 TO EASTBOUND I-94.

THE ON RAMP FROM CLARK TO NORTHBOUND I-75 IS CLOSED UNTIL DEC. ;DETOUR:TRAFFIC WILL BE DETOURED TO THE I-75SERVICE DRIVE TO WEST GRAND.

Lane closed on I-75 between MM 0 and 2ONE LANE WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE BRIDGE OVER I-75.

Closed on I-275 between Ann Arbor Rd and Five Mile Rd THE LEFT LANE IS CLOSED ON NORTHBOUND I-275 AS YOU APPROACH THE M-14INTERCHANGE UNTIL JUNE 12. THIS CLOSURE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE EXISTING 3 LANES NARROWS TO 2 LANES 5 MILE ROAD

I did a run about a week ago from Warren to Sandusky. The trip took almost three hours. It usually takes about 2.5 hours for the same trip.

Add about a half hour onto your trip if leaving from North of Detroit.

Don't forget the weekend closure of 696 at Mound. It closes Friday at 9 and doesn't reopen till 5am Monday.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I've been driving that pretty regularly on the weekends to get to Fraser from Ferndale. Its been hit or miss as far as it closing on the weekends. Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not. Its really frustrating to be on the service drive, only to look down and see traffic making its merry way. Getting back on 696 from a pot hole stricken service drive is a pain.

I saw the Gateway Project on the other side of the Ambassador Bridge and it's looking like it's coming together. I can't wait until it's done. What's the forecast for I-75 south this summer? Last year wasn't bad, are they done that work yet?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

A couple of days ago there was some construction around Monroe (hasn't that been going on forever now?) If you take 280 when you get to Toledo there isn't any more construction, but if you're heading to the turnpike via 75 there's currently one small pocket of construction. Although sometime soon they're starting work on the bridge over the Maumee River which should be a mess. If you're coming out of Michigan this summer, I'd definitely suggest taking 280 to the Turnpike. Less construction and it's 25 cents cheaper. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Any word about construction on either the Indiana (I-80/90)or Ohio (I-80) Tollway/Turnpike? We're coming over from Illinois.
Thanks.

I know there are some minor lane closures along the 80/90 tollroad/turnpike. The biggest issue you will probably run into is near Gary, IN. There is some major work being done near the downtown area. Depending on the traffic you may have some delays there.

Thanks! We actually don't get on the toll road until just west of Portage at the 80/90/94 split. But thanks for the heads up!

Then outside of some minor work, you should be just fine. I'll find out for myself tomorrow and post it here tomorrow night.

How's the drive coming from Cleveland? Is there any construction along 90 or 2?

^I didn't really want to start a new topic because it wasn't all that important, so I thought I could just add a bit into this post! And I seen something about Indiana and thought it was an all around road construction post, but then I seen the title and seen it was about Michigan.

^not mad at ya, should have made it construction in general seeing as that people come from all over and not just Michigan.

I-94 Westbound & Eastbound is closed at Capital Ave in Battle Creek(exit 97). This is due to a bridge shifting from nearby construction. I-94 is expected to be opened again 5/22/09, but it could be up to a week longer.

Here's the info from MDOT: http://tinyurl.com/r2suwp

I'm from the area (Kalamazoo) but don't know squat about alternate routes in Battle Creek...I'm no help in that department.

I think we're going to avoid that area all together on Saturday and take 131 to Three Rivers and hop on 80/90 there.

^^I was just making a general statement. It wasn't pointed at you or Jugga or anyone else in this topic! I was just wondering about the drive in from Cleveland and thought I could sneek it in this post instead of making a new topic.

It was easy getting down there this past Saturday. i got off on Rosa Parks, caught the next left to Michigan Ave and followed that down to Mexican town where I got back on I-75. The whole detour took about 5 minutes.
