I would try and get a few hundred bucks to get you by for your first week or two at least. I'm not sure how long it is until your first paycheck now, but I remember it being a couple weeks before I got any real money. You will need to feed yourself at least for those few weeks.

Golds/Cedars do not have air conditioning, but are on the peninsula. Personally, I chose Commons Dorms when I lived there, but that's because I like to sleep in comfort of Air Conditioning, especially after a long day.

Do not go to Golds, move into a Commons Dorm. They are much more fun and your around a lot of people who you'll probably become very close with. Where as in Golds, you literally live in the park, and you are about two miles down a causeway away from everyone. Commons Dorms are the way to go.

Bring money and eat cheap for the first two weeks.

I had 6 dollars to last two weeks. At the time I bought 30 ears of corn and 30 cans of chicken noodle soup; 1980. It was a decade before I could look at either again...

Aside from that there's always parties you can steal junk food and beer from. If you are in a food service position you can drink sugar laced soda to get almost 3000 calories a day so you won't starve.

If you get hungry, go get some church food in Sandusky.

does it really put a dent in your pay though cuz i cant afford that

You probably won't ever miss the extra $$. I know I didn't.

You really don't need that much money to get by for the first couple of weeks assuming you don't plan on going out much. You could probably get by on a hundred dollars if you only spent money on food. As for where to live commons is definitely way more social than golds. It will be a little more difficult to hang out with friends if you live in Golds because most likely most of your friends will live in commons.

the difference between Golds and Commons is like $5-$7 a week...and they take it out of your paycheck so we don't have to give them anything. and it is based off of how much your work and they cap it at 40 hours. so, you will not pay over $35 a week for housing and that is the most expensive option

Like anyone in the same situation for CP, school, or just plain moving out, leaving home is a big step. But Money really shouldnt be too much of a problem at CP. There is a reason Ramon noodles are a CP staff favorite food. Because most cant afford anything else after a couple nights at the bar. I personally always made sure I had a couple boxes of noodles and some ragu. It would cost me me $4 a week, and I could always cook since I lived in the dorm apartments which do have stoves.

But saying that, the biggest question was is this a mistake? It's all up to you. Privacy as you know it will be all but gone. You WILL have roommates, and they can come and go as they please. There is no one to clean up after you, nor your roommates. Meaning, while your Mom may have taught you well, you may get stuck with someone who hasn't.It's how you handle small situations like that that will make or break you. My best advice is find other newbies like yourself that will be experiencing all of it fresh. It will give you a friend for the meantime until you get used to the system. During which time you can survey the lifers or soon to be lifers and the groups they hang out with. Some would say make friends with them quick, but most lifers forget what it was like when they were newbies. And most likely will find ways to make you feel uncomfortable at times by talking about all kinds of things you may have no idea about.

But since you are New, chances are you will feel alone if you dont have someone to count on. Thus the mentioned newbie friendship. Which normally makes people home sick pretty quick. This happens to everyone at one point, including those with years experience after a bad days work. It WILL happen. The key is don't give up. Remember you left home and went to CP to work for a reason. Most to get away from things at home. Tomorrow will be a better day most of the time.

The best part of being a part of the CP team is most everybody is gonna be in the same situation as you. Just about everyone makes the same pay, has the same problems, and you surrounded by a couple thousand people just living by commons. GOOD LUCK!

Ramon Noodles are a must. Bring a bunch of packages with you and a plastic container to cook them in.

When I worked there a few years ago, I think I felt a bit out of place for the first week or so. Once the first paychecks came in, my crew started hanging out a lot after work, and it was the best summer ever from there on.

do golds have microwaves or do you have to bring one

From what I remember, they have some available in the office area. I don't believe you were allowed to have microwaves in your room.

I had some pictures but my cell phone got busted in a car wreck unless u want to leave ur desktop out and ur not worried about people stealing ur stuff i worked for cedar point last season and had some valuable stuff stolen right out of my bayside apartment while at work
the bad thing of it all was the roomie that got fired took it out on everyone else and if ur working in merchandise i suggest u do not steal cause cedar point will fire u then throw u out on ur butt no speeding on the causeway that another way to get fired and thrown out on ur butt if u bring a car park where told to or it will get towed to a impound lot cars get broke it to a lot at cedar point keep valuables out of ur car if not out of ur car keep it out of view not trying to make someone rethink there decision to work for cedar point just giving some pointer
