Commons dorms question.

I was looking at the cedarpoint.com description of employee housing and I noticed they say that Commons dorms house 2-3 per room and the diagram shows one set of bunkbeds and a regular bed in each room with 3 lockers.

Is this new? When I worked there a few years back, it was 2 sets of bunkbeds in each room plus 4 lockers. Are they realizing that 4 people in one of those rooms are a bit much or are they lying in the room descriptions?

Most rooms have 2 sets of bunkbeds but I have seen rooms with 1 bunkbed and 1 regular bed.

In the two Commons dorm rooms I lived in ('02 and '03) there were only 3 lockers even though there were four beds. I can't recall having more than two roommates, at least for any extended period of time. But if there had been a fourth, they would have been screwed out of having a locker! I knew of other rooms that had 4 people, though.

I looked at that website, and I think it is kind of funny they are saying 2-3 people per room. I never knew of any Commons dorm with just two people in it. Like I said, I haven't worked there in two years. Did they really take out some of the bunkbeds and make all the dorms into REAL 2 or 3 person rooms? If nothing has changed, I think it's kind of funny they are suggesting you might get a dorm room with just 1 other person, then you show up and see you actually have three other roommates squished in there. Maybe they are trying to make the dorms sound more palatable? But if they still have dorms with two sets of bunkbeds, then it is blatantly misleading to not say 2-4 people per room.

As of the end of the 05 season, every Commons room I knew of had 4 beds and 4 lockers. Although in two seasons I've only sayed on the first floor of the 1500 building, so I'm not sure about elsewhere.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Maybe its something new for 2006 all throughout commons dorms?

I stayed in 2 different rooms in 1500. The older wing only has 3 lockers per room, so its supposed to only have 3 beds, but My room had 4 beds and 3 lockers. That was definitely difficult once I got 3 other roommates. My new room had 4 beds, 4 lockers, and was in the newer wing (with the better bathrooms).

How did you solve the problem of 4 roommates and 3 lockers? I say that 4th person shouldnt have to pay rent due to the inconvienence. Just my take though.

In my case (I know your question wasn't directed to me) anytime a 4th moved into the room they were always gone again the same day, if not within minutes. One of the main reasons I wanted Commons dorms was to be able to have a locker, so I would have been upset to find one was not provided for me. (Luckily I've always been either the first or second person to move into each dorm I've occupied). Another big issue with my dorm in '02 was that the fourth bed was totally unuseable. I forget exactly what the problem was, I think it was too hard and there were all kind of things sticking into your back if you tried to lay down. When the three of us in the room first figured this out, we alerted housing of the issue and told them not to send anyone because the bed was so bad. It wasn't just that we wanted out of having a 4th roommate, but no one could possibly be expected to sleep on this bed. Yet throughout the year they continuously sent us new girls, who would go through all the trouble of lugging their things up to the room, which was on the third floor and about as far away from the front door as you could get, only to find there was no way they could sleep on their bed. It was aggrivating. And they were obviously able to move somewhere else, so I don't know why housing kept trying to dump people off into our defunct room.

When we had 4 roommates and 3 lockers, the 4th roommate used the dresser that was in there. I wasnt in that room for very long, so I'm sure she took the locker as soon as I left.
