Commons Dorms

My friend processes in tomorrow (June 1st), and we're wanting a Commons Dorm.

Can any of you tell me what our chances are of getting one? Or all they filled up?

Thanks.

Last I heard they were pretty full, and the chances of you two getting a room together may be small.

Damn, i hope he gets one for sure. His TL said we'd be fine (as far as getting together).

Hmm..

only time will tell

Question to someone who knows the history of the park:

Why is "Commons" called Commons?

My favorites from Dictionary.com
"Having no special designation, status
1. Not distinguished by superior or noteworthy characteristics.
2. Of no special quality; standard.
3. Of mediocre or inferior quality."

But probably more like this
"commons (used with a sing. verb) A building or hall for dining, typically at a university or college."

WDW also houses college program cast members in a "Commons" apartment complex.

Interesting. I've always wondered about that.

Honestly, a true story:
I was there a few years ago as we were processing in. A young guy was standing in line at HR. with his parents, all obviously from out of the area. The parents remarked "This is such a nice park, I don't know why they built that juvenile jail at the end of the causeway!"

Now, each time I drive by I see barbed wire, angular buildings and staircases, the fenced in footbridge, the infamous guard booth, cops conspicuously standing around and black school buses and I can't keep a straight face!

And who says CP can’t theme an area! The commons prison theme is pulled off better than what Orlando parks could do. When the weathers cold everyone entering end exiting are wearing the same blue suits too. The only thing missing is if they turned beds during the 3am fire alarms.

The whole idea behind the prison is to keep the riff raff of Sandusky out not necessarily the employees in. Though with some of the nonsense that goes on in commons some nights I was half temped to sleep outside the fences and take my chances?.

I process in july 1st...and CP knows I need Housing...I want to live in Commons Apartments...Where do they place you if what you want is fileld?

No kidding about the "Sandusky Scum". Remember to lock your car where ever you go in Sandusky... Do not date any of the local gals....

Are you for real? In one post you talk about how you spent your entire summer in Sandusky wasted and hungover, but then turn around and put down the people who live there?

Ignore him. Sandusky is a great community.

Excuse me Walt. Where exactly did I "put down" people in Sandusky?

Sandusky is a great resort town. The area and lake are wonderful as I experienced first hand. Cedar Point is only part of the entire Lake Erie experience. There are lots of family related activities during the spring, summer and fall. It is a great vacation as we all know.

Would I want to live there? No way, especially during the winter! I used to date a gal that lived off of Rye Beach Rd. I was going to move up there until I watched an early spring thunderstorm flood her house! The weather is worse than here in north east Indiana...

What part about "Sandusky Scum" isn't putting people in Sandusky down?

I'm not sure I see your logic (or lack thereof...)

Does this post ring a bell?

So were you saying not to date any of the "local gals" because their house may flood?

What they said.

Every town has its faults. We get the "Sandusky sucks except for Cedar Point" myth around here from time to time. But, given all that Sandusky has going for it, it's a lot better off than many other towns, especially of similar size.

No,

My comments about the local females was of course tounge in cheek. I went out with a local gal who lied about being married the summer of '80...

The gal who owned the flooded house actually lived in Huron.

My favorite small town in the area is Fremont.
