Hi:)
My husband and I are coming down to Ohio on the 15th. We want to visit cedar point, but need a nice room and I want to go shopping:) we have four days so we want to have a great time, just need to know where to stay and what to expect at cedar point.
Thanx so much.....Meaghan
The 15th of September is a Monday and the 15th of October is a Wednesday, neither of which days the park is open. The park is only open now on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays through November 2nd.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Respecting the fact that you have considered the Cedar Point days/hours of operation as indicated in the above post, there is good shopping on Milan Rd (especially for Canadians, Target, WalMart, Meijer, Sandusky Mall to name a few). From the Ohio Turnpike use exit 118 and head north. There are many hotels along Milan Rd, as anywhere else, you get what you pay for. $100-$125 a night (regular price, don't be afraid to negotiate!) should get you a decent room, look for indoor pools, breakfasts, etc included. We have found the Comfort Inn/Suites 5909 Milan Rd area acceptable.
The indoor waterparks are awesome, pricy, but worth it especially in Sept/Oct and you may be able to make or find a deal.
If possible, the best solution is stay on the CP property, a room in Hotel Breakers. Even a Bon Aire room for 1 night is better than staying off property.
For fun, get a Chet and Matts King Kong pizza. Not only Tasty, but very big!
As a Canadian that has been going to CP for 33 years now, I kind of know my way around and all the stops from Detroit to CP. Plan and have a good, safe trip.
PS - I'm thinking of taking the Pelee Island ferry next year, perhaps with just my bicycle. The cost is cheap for bicycles to cross the lake. I may have asked this before, but, how does CP handle patrons arriving on bicycle?
As far as I know, they don't. I think you must be in a vehicle to cross the Causeway. The Chausee however, may be a different story because it's residential. That would be a long ride though.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
^ - what do the signs on the causeway say though? I believe (and this is just memory) that they say something to the effect of "No Pedestrians". Bicyclists do not qualify as pedestrians.
Goodbye MrScott
John
