College Music Major

I am going to be a music education major this upcoming fall, and it's very important that I keep my skills in shape. I would like to know the possibilities of practicing (where, etc). Also, any info from other employees who are music majors and what they did would be a GREAT help. Thanks!

I'm not a music major, but I remember walking through my building on occassion and hearing a trombone playing or a violin.... So I guess it's alright to practice in your room. I didn't mind hearing that, but I'm not sure about other people.

You never know... Live E may let you use one of thier rooms on your day off as long as they don't need them for thier people.

Talk to Marge, Lance, or Lisa about it.. Can't hurt...

You can't talk to Lisa any longer, she left the park to have a baby. Brandon is the new full time music person. They do let people use the area outside of the practice rooms, and they have let people use a practice room if nobody from the shows needs the space.

And Marje is with a J...

Been a long day and everyone know about my thing for names.. Just ask Mr. Sphen.

I forgot about Lisa.. Good to hear Brandon got the spot.. Fantastic keyboard player..

Would it be practical to bring a keyboard? I would like keep up my skills for fall too. I could just use headphones so I don't bother anyone.

Why the hell not? Bring your band mates too, im sure your roommates wouldn't care... Make sure there is room to store all of your stuff. If I was your roommate and you took up alot of space I would not be happy. Just a drunken thought after a long night of working as a doorman.
Well, it's not as easy as just bringing a keyboard! I play horn, so I'll be needing to keep my lips in shape. But so far, it doesn't seem like it will be a problem...until no one can bear my horrible noise pollution anymore. ;-)
Shroader - My roommate had a keyboard in our room last year and it was fine, he used his headphones and it didn't take up too much room. Only thing to warn you and MStad about - things can go wandering off at CP, so if you intend to bring your instruments back home with you at the end of the season, make sure you keep 'em in a safe place.

I had my guitar with me last year and played it almost daily... nobody ever really complained... and I had a half stack that was cranked... I always found time to practice... and may I ask... what kind of music are you majoring in? or what kind of music are you into?

That's reassuring to hear, Ska. I'll be majoring in music education at Indiana U of Pennsylvania with concentration in horn.

I'm majoring in voice at Indiana U of PA. I was going for piano, but I didn't know how much time I would have to learn piano stuff, I like to take my time learning piano music! I'm mostly in to jazz and rock. It's a good thing I'll be able bring my keyboard or I'll go crazy. Its a stress reliever!

Really? I heard that vocal majors (in college, that is) need to practice like...26 more hours than an instrumentalist!
