What makes a coaster stall? If gravity takes over after the first hill how can it just stop and roll back in a valley, and if that does happen what or how is the train brought back to the station?
Stalling can be definined in many ways. Some people might say when a rides stops on the lift it stalls.
A true valley or rollback whatever you want to call it is when thetrain stops in a place where there are not cables or motors to bring itback to the station. Alot of times they are caused by the cold making the grease harden. It can also be caused by somthing caught in the wheel or a wheel that has been damaged.
If a ride stalls before the hill it is either pushed or winched to the lift. If it stalls in a valley between hills or in a cobra roll it mostlikeley has to be removed with a crane and placed back in the station.
2009 ??? Cp Le Railroad??
2008 Cp and Le Railroad ATL
2006-2007 Geauga Lake rides
Coasters can stall or roll back for a number of reasons, but generally cold and wind are the culprits. Empty trains on cold mornings are the most likely to not complete the course.
I've seen Raptor, Millennium, Mine Ride, Gemini, and Mean Streak valley, sitting on the track after a valley, or being pulled back to the station with cables after a valley. Raptor in 2006 is the only one I actually witnessed as it happened.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
The Jumbo Jet used to stall just past the end of the power rail all the time. The rail should have been about a foot longer. The solution was always the same. A maintenance guy would climb up to the top of the helix and give the train a push. On busy days mid-summer, they'd station a guy up there all day!
