CoasterMania, OTT Style --Long and winded but FUN

Well, I have seen a few "trip reports" here and a few on CoasterBuzz and decided I needed to add my two cents worth...

This was my first of what will be MANY Coastermanias. I will never miss this event again and cannot wait till next year when I may actually come to the MORNING ERT.

Where do I start...how about the fact that I went into the event with a pre-concieved "attitude"/sterotype about the type of peolpe I would see at the ERT...HELL with sterotypes..I couldn't have been more wrong and I am DAMN glad of it....

My day started late due to that thing called a JOB... I meet our "fearless leader" Mr. Putz himself by the Demon Drop around 6:45p.m. We decided we were hungry and after an IM session questioning the value of Midway Market we decided TGIFriday's was the spot for a meal (it may have also been due to the fact TGIFridays has these cool spickets which BEER flows from:)..anyhow, on our way up the midway we spotted PETE, sitting and drinking a RootBeer Float...saince there was no crowd around us to hide in Pete spotted us, so our group was now three;)

BTW Special Kudos here as Pete was also one of the winners in the photo contest. WTG Pete.

So we proceeded to TGIFridays where two of us odered Dortmunders and one of us ordered Labatt's. When we were asked about dinner, two of us ordered burgers, one of us ordered two more beers...Well someone decided you only rent beer so off to the little boys room Jeff went. When he returned to the table Jeff informed us Raptor Jo et al where in the back having dinner. Well, Pete and I didn't have the urge to leave our full beers so we filed this information away for later...After a few more and another one for dessert it was time to check out the facilities...on the return toward or table we did have a meeting with Raptor Jo,and the rest of her entourage;)..Hey Jo, I am serious, if you need the votes we will join the GOCC (I think that is right) and vote early and often..Thank for the ATTICA HONK.

Well after we FINALLY figured out the check and how to pay (thanks Jeff...Pete can I see that twenty from your car!) we headed into the park. Since we knew Raptor was not part of the night ERT:( we went there...the wait was about 15 minutes and I agree with Jeff, this could be the BEST CREW I have witnessed on Raptor EVER...I have not seen any of the trains stack at all and the crew is hustling and having fun...Well since our group had three riders we headed into the second to last row for a quick flight...as we are entering a group of Coastermania peolpe were exiting our row...I called out, "we need one, one seat here"...Well low and behold, RoboBud (or is it Robodude!...heck He is on this board) had the jewels to step back into the ride and fly with us. Well now the group grows to ALOT (too many for me to count) and I don't want to list names as I will miss one or more and offend that one...but you are a GREAT GROUP...and the WT Video is great, you must put it out here for all to enjoy, very clever...

We decided to ride Mean Streak first in the ERT so to avoid the LONG line on MS later;)..BTW, Pete is still at the enterance wanting to tell B.E. his "great idea" for the park:)

Someone from the group posted about "We want the Florie Dories"...well I ain't telling;)...Let's just say by you NOT knowing I feel even older.

We did Magnum and then headed up to MF, what a GREAT after dark ride this is...Since we had fallen back to our original three, I found a "consummate professional" who was working that evening and had him ride with me. We then decdied to head back to MS, but were too late, then to Magnum but again too late, so we made it back to MF for another late night spin...and once again I had the "consummate professional" as my riding partner. Along the walk back to MF we hooked up with "Brenda"( another name I hope I have right:)...She is a CP alumnae from Food Op, once I stopped say "I' m sorry" for all the remarks we kept making (she wasn't offended by anything except me saying I'm sorry:)), she seemed to fit right in with our group.

After our last MF ride we headed toward the parking lot, Brenda, spun off toward TGIFriday's and I heard a stool calling my name but left it for Pete (hey did you make it back there) and headed home...As I headed east, before I hit Griffing airport, the LOW FUEL light came on in the car:(...The Speedway was closed at Rye Beach Road and I didn't feel like stopping at Shell..Well 59 mile later, I arrived in my driveway on fumes:)

A few things I learned...

1. Coastermania is great...next year I plan on spending more of the day at the park.

2. It is sound advice to spend a few hours in TGIFriday's BEFORE ERT;)

3. CP and Coastermania will always bring out the best in people...EVERYONE we ran into (and we actually ran into a few) we're having fun and were happy to be part of the day.

4. CP does a great job with Coastermania...It is fun to ride some rides with "fellow coasternuts" and just have fun doing it..not spend alot of time disecting every inch of a ride...

Well, if you made it this far you are probably having trouble sleeping.

I'll sign off now and just look forward to the next adventurers of Ott & Jeff and tag along Pete....Coming this Father's Day.

Ill list the people...lol

Joey Isch (me), Rob (Robodud), Kristen (KicksTheSky), Kara (ST chick), Chris (MooreOn), John, Brad (Arrow Guy). Thats all I can remember right now, lol.

Well, that was truly a great time. Many thanks to B.E., R.I. and the rest of the CP staff who worked hard to host a great event. It seems like the adventures of Ott & Jeff plus tag along Pete are well on their way to becoming infamous. There is only one thing I need to add to Tim's report, I promised to make this little remark public knowledge, it may help someone out. After multiple tall beers, while discussing how the beers are not helping us fit into the rides, I passed along a little bit of fatherly advice. My father said: "Son, if you have a good tool, build a shed over it!" Words of wisdom to live by! So, stay tuned 'till next week, as the adventures of Ott & Jeff and tag along Pete continue at your favorite park!

It was awesome talking to you and Pete Tim at TGIFs. I considered that one of my CM highlights, you guys were TOO funny! You're welcome for the Attica "toot" I'll be sure to remember to do that every time! ;)
I think that all the GOCC ballots need to be in by the 28th of June so I doubt you could get registered AND vote by then-but thanks anyway! :) Like I said my opponent is WELL deserving so if I lose I can't feel THAT bad!

CU@CP!
And definitely CU at CM '03! :)

My beverage was a Canadian... not a Labatt. Get your northern beverages straight, will you?

Pete owes me $20.

I knew I was headed for trouble when I ran into Tim and Pete. Mean Streak sure is a good ride in the dark when you've got one tied on.

Pete owes me $20.

What I found kind of funny is how there were these masses of people huddled outside of the MF entrance toward the end of ERT. The gate ride op kept saying, in a low monotone, "Millennium Force is still open." Good times. Ha, I worked all day. Take that!

If you thought CoasterMania was fun, you should've tried CoasterBuzzCon. ;)

Yeah, Jeff, we heard you at MF. We were waiting on Jo, so blame her... :) OTT & Pete, it was great to meet you at TGIF, though surprisingly Jo didn't introduce me by my screen name as per usual.... :) Jo, we need the shirts. On the front, "I Know Raptor Jo" and on the back, "Raptor Jo's Entourage." :) :)

Hey Pete...maybe we have found ROUND THREE for the GTTP Father's Day Meeting;)

OTT -- who is hoping the Karaoke is not working on Father's Day or it could be ugly:)

I was curious so I asked my dad about the "Florie Dories"...turns out they are MUCH more innocent than I expected... :)

And don't feel old because we didn't know...to be honest, once he described the Rascals sketch, I realized that I have actually seen it (this coming from a guy who was called Spanky by his relatives when he was a kid)!

It was awesome hanging with you old drunks for the night ERT session ;)...a very fun and unforgettable cap to our unbelievable day! And as one who drives through Attica every time I go from home to school and back, I will be sure to honk next time I drive through!

I feel ya there Chris....right Jo? Who gives $85 tickets for going 35 in a 25? Oh yeah, Attica Police...
