CoasterMania 2002

We arrived a little before 8:30. The ERT had begun at 7:30 for Power Tower, Raptor, Mantis, and Blue Streak. We parked right up front, went to group sales, paid our measly 30 bucks and got our meal tickets and entered the park. We walked right on Raptor for a great ride, then went down to Power Tower, waited About 5-10 minutes and rode the shoot up side. Then we walked right on Mantis (very efficient crew). Then we went over to mean streak but they didn't have clearance to open it yet. So went over and got right on Magnum. We then waited in line for Freeway and got a 1:00-2:00 time to ride Millennium Force. We then were a little hungry, so we got some gourmet pretzels (mmm.. mmm). We then headed to the ballroom for a good seat. We sat in the 2nd row right in front of the podium. I was wearing a dark grey Cedar Point Tee-Shirt and had a dark blue Indians hat on (maybe you saw me).Well, then the press conference thing started. Some good questions were asked. But when someone asked what was going in the former Dodgem site. They deliberately avoided the question, that's a good sign that's it's something big. And the outrageous 3 dollar pop price is now under review by Cedar point. The press conference was a lot of fun. But at 1:00, it ended and we had some ridin' to do on the greatest coaster ever built. We headed over to Millennium Force and cut in front of quite a few people (Hah Hah!!). There were some people filming there (maybe I'll be on TV). Anyways, we got on and had a great ride. I think we rode Chaos after that and then we ate the wonderful free food. Chicken, hot dogs, ice-cream, cookies, they had everything and to top it off, free taffy, caramel corn, and caramel apples. Then from about 2:45 to 6. We rode and rode and rode until dinner time. We went over to Johnny Rockets for some great food. Then we went over to Wicked Twister.Sadly, The picture on the left is as close as I got to riding Wicked Twister. We just hung around the Wicked Twister Plaza for a while. I took some pictures and then we got on the Dodgems. Ended up getting on Power Tower 4 times. couple of rides on Gemini, another spin on Raptor. a ride on Mean Streak, CCMR, and Magnum. as the normal day came to a close, I rode Blue Streak 3 times in a row. But the party had just begun. As Mean Streak in the dark awaited us.

We arrived and waited till 10. we were let in the queue line and as I said "are they turn off the lights or what", the queue went into total darkness. I ended going on Mean Streak 4 times in a row, the ride ops were really getting into it. We then headed to Magnum for ERT, some people were saying "lets get this over with and go to the Millennium". We rode Magnum, which is always a good ride. The over to the king, we waited about an hour!!! for ERT on MF. But it was worth every second (as it always is). At this point, it was a little after 12:30. WE headed towards the park exit and they were playing the same song we heard when we walked in the park (Funky Town). What a great way to end CoasterMania!. - Written by: Nick McILvain --- Photos Taken by: Nick McILvain -

I was the one who asked about the Dodgem site. I knew they werent going to get specific, but i thought that i might as well give it a shot.

Someday's it's just not worth chewing through the restrains.

I was thinkin about asking it. They delibrately avoided the question. That means its gotta be something big right?
