Coaster Mania ‘06

High Po!nts:
AM ERT - Hubby and I managed 29 Raptor flights! One of the PR big shots joined me for my 1100 ride! :)
It has been forever since I power rode and I was in heaven!! Raptor was kicking butt and so was the crew!

Q&A was a high point due to seeing Mr. Kinzel, but also a low point which I will get to later.

Lunch was great, our table was full of some of our closest CP buds so it was non stop laughs! Marketing had placed a bunch of (old CM and Raptor) buttons on all the tables and every time I turned around some one else came to me and said “here you go Jo" (some of whom I didn’t even know!) and they would lay down tons of Raptor pins. By the time all was said and done I had well over 30 pins. I took 20 of them to the Raptor crew, and was very happy to see them all proudly sporting them a short while later.

PM annual GOCC TGIF get together. Mr. Kinzel stopped in on us to let us know MF was indeed up, and was kind enough to buy us all dessert. Hooper met up with us there and we all knew then the fun was about to really begin! :)

The park was pretty much cleared out by then since most of the gazillion high school kids were gone. Our DT rides were classic, yes, thanks to Hooper!

Do NOT ride with Hooper on Raptor if he is sitting on the right side--more about that in my low points.

After 2 flights on Raptor , hitting WT, SkyHawk, a dark ride on Paddlewheel, we headed to Maggie to await PM ERT. Maggie was kicking butt-no trims and holy C she was FLYING! Hooper was his usual Hooper self so all of us where hysterical laughing at him. It took 5 rides before we all decided to head to MF and take a quick ride. Of course, one of the high points has to be that they got MF up and running for everyone else, but one ride was plenty for us and then we headed to BS. We managed 3 BS rides before another CM over.

Low Po!nts:
Some of the questions asked during the Q&A. Some weren’t even questions but bitching about minute stuff that most of the other people couldn’t care less about. You have to really have compassion for the management staff to have the guts to do these sessions knowing they will face some real winners.

The weather was kind of a downer for most of the day but the lack of sun kept away most of the humidity (and the hot sweaty people) and at least the night was clear and beautiful.

Yet another year where CP doesn’t sell CM shirts-WTH is up with that??? I just do not understand that, I know they would sell like crazy yet CP refuses to even try.

Hooper, Raptor, lights on the runway and electricity = a HUGE zap and then a HUGE black and blue mark!

Quotes of the day:
“ Mayday! Mayday!!” “Please no more NG!!” “Is that shirt just screaming “AH” to you?” :)

All in all another hilarious and great CM for us. It is surely added into one of my favorites! Thanks to my hubby for keeping up with my early morning Raptor Extravaganza and not ditching me for TTD. Thanks to all my CP buds for the laughs and memories, I love all of yas!
Hooper, a special thank you to you for always making CM such a great time for all who are lucky enough to hang and ride with you. You are a classic! :)

I could however have done without the black and blue Raptor hickey! ;)

Here's to CoasterMania '07! :)

Jo
Lifetime Raptor flights: 1113 :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Great to meet you Jo. I am glad I got to ride in the back with you and your "hubby."

Next year....

I was one of the people that gave you buttons Jo....I was in the Banshee shirt.

I definately overheard you chewing out the hubby when he had to make a bathroom stop during your Raptor marathon. Classic. :) Nice trip report.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

"Refuses" to get shirts? Your sorry ass got ERT and lunch for free. What the hell else do you want?

Shirts... Oh, and a ride next time Kinzel passes me on the midway in his car. It was a long walk from Raptor to Skyhawk when TTD was down.

Hey I wouldn't mind paying for them if they had T-Shirts for the event. I am not complaining though, the event is great as it is.

cyberdman

Wait. You'd actually spend money on CP stuff? Say it isn't so!

I didn't say to give the shirts away I said to BUY one.

My sorry ass got ERT and lunch for free at CoasterEXT too, and I still had the opportunity to PURCHASE a CoasterEXT shirt.

But you're still making a stupid assumption about what they "refuse" to do, as if someone in marketing got up and said, "We refuse to get shirts!" There's no conspiracy in play here.

Ok, then I used the incorrect wording.
My understanding is that because the '96 CoasterMania stuff did not sell well they decided not to offer any more CM merchandise. I don't understand why they haven't tried since. Especially after seeing how well the ones from CEXT sold at GL Saturday.

I saw somebody with a Coastermania '96 shirt on during this year's event, and I thought to myself "Don't be THAT guy" - It's kind of like me going to see As I Lay Dying and wearing one of their shirts.

But hey, that's just me :)

The funny part was when Lexi said "we decided to actually get shirts for our EXT." Tony stepped up to the mic and said "That's all the time we have for Lexi today, thanks a lot Lexi."

Good times.

You don't understand why a business would decide not to offer products that do not sell well? Yeah, ok, it's because YOU want one. That's almost as bad of a sense of self entitlement as the guy who was complaining of the lack of seat belt extenders.

Lexi told us at the Coastermania luncheon that she only ordered 200 shirts. There were 250 people at Coaster EXT and when I got to GL at 1:45pm, there were plenty of shirts left. Even at Dominator ERT that night, there were still plenty of t-shirts sitting on the table.

Michigan's Adventure does preorders for Timbersfest t-shirts, maybe if CP offered that and did preorders, then there won't be a issue of "overstock" and they can order what they need. A Coastermania tshirt would be nice, I can wear the shirt all the time, the button goes in my CP display cabinet.

Plus, $12.95 was not a lot of money for a coaster T-shirt. I am paying $20.00 for my Timbersfest shirt for next weekend, so I think a preordering option would be nice.

Hi Betsy! :)
Lexi said we would be preordering the CExt shirts for next year's event. I think some of the issue with the left over shirts this year may have very well be because of the sizes offered. Even Tony said he would have rather had an XXL but they didnt have any. Preordering would eliminate that problem as well as too many/few
I have also heard CP is considering CM shirts for next year :)
see ya!

Of course he'd want a 2X. Note to parks: order one gigantic shirt for Tony, and lots of 'normal sized' shirts for the rest of us. ;)

raptorqueen's avatar

yeah, an option of medium t-shirts would be awesome!!

I also would have liked to be able to get a 2X at EXT, so I think preordering for next year is a great idea. A CM shirt would also be nice to have, so I hope they do offer one for preorder next year.
