CoasterMania '02-Raptor/Talon/CP Jo style
At 4am the hotel alarm, the hotel phone and my cell phone's alarm went off. Yes, all 3, did NOT want to oversleep! Melody and I got ready and off to CP we went. We got to CP at 5:30, parked in row 1 and waited for UCISECPJNBDT (Jeff) to arrive. He arrived safely and TICKET free! :) We got our button and meal tiks and once inside park got to hear the usual CoasterMania speech with a slight "twist" (pun not intended however very funny!) it seems that Wicked Twister was currently down and we were told there was a possibility it would be up later but if not, they were replacing the PM ERT with Mean Streak in the dark. Yes the sounds of moans and groins were very obvious (I may have even slipped out a "MS-WTH?") I guess I would have rather they said PM on Raptor (cause we ALL know my baby KICKS at night :)) or even Gemini. And then of course my concern was knowing about all the whiny enthusiasts that were going to just ream CP on that and NOT forget about no Wicked Twister FOREVER. I know I can't wait to see some of the stupid posts on CB about that :( Dan K did his usual "you came here to ride coasters and not hear me talk" speech, which won me a bet! Off to Raptor we went. I had Jeff sit on the "crack" side so he could hear it, the funniest part of THAT moment was actually leaning out asking Jeff about it during the invert, yes, only a TRUE Po!nter has a conversation DURING the ride, all while Melody was there with a death grip, keeping her mouth closed tight to keep from inhaling any muffleheads. :) We then headed over to Blue Streak where we teamed up with Matt, his Dad and a friend of his Dad. Blue Streak was running awesome as always, of course the fact that my seat belt just came undone all by itself really made for some wonderful airtime. Back to Raptor we went where we all did 4 more laps-making my lifetime now 564! I sense a definite 600 at least this season! We passed a whole group of CB'ers who were looking at me whispering "is that her?" which I thought was cute ( I ended up actually meeting them later on at Woodstock Express) Off to PT we went-line too long so NO PT for me! :) (BTW-for all of you who knew I was determined to get Melody on it cause she was petrafied, she wasn't going to ride it anyway but I was!) Back to Ban-Mantis we went. Puke clean up-blech :( -rode 1x, off to Maggie we headed. We got in 2 laps, the funniest thing about them was me "narrating" my Discovery channel speech when Maggie was done-I thought that was too funny! :) We then headed to Gemini, and pretty much just walked around for a while thanks to the GP invading the park by that time. We even did Paddleboat Excursion a couple times and it was really fun! In the early afternoon we got "freeway'd" for MF for 9-10 then waited in line too. We ended up seeing Janice with a news crew and when she saw me she said "you did a great job on Discovery!" then she pointed at me and said "she's a star!" I, of course, being the so shy and refined person I am just got so embarrased ;) This was Melody's 1x on MF and she could NOT have been holding on ANY tighter! She REFUSED to look going up or down the hill and her reaction once ride was done and she saw she lived, "after the 1st hill it's not had!" We then headed to the CM lunch. I had forewarned Mel and Jeff that in the past 2 years the lunch has been well, ucky and standard but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the lay out this season. It was all yummy, especially the chicken! :)Thanks to CP for that! I would also like the take the opportunity here to congratulate our own Skykicker, Matt for being one of the winners of the coaster photo contest! Told ya you'd win Matt! :) Awesome pic, congrats and it was SO nice of you to let your Dad have the sweatshirt you won! We decided at that point to change into our jeans, and wait patiently basically til PM ERT time. I called our very own Jeff Sparty to check in with him too. I was SHOCKED my cell worked in the parking lot-it NEVER does! (Watch the mail Sparty for your little "gift"-NEXT CM you'd BETTER be there! We missed you! Back to park where we rode Demon Drop, and on the way to Ocean Motion I saw Jeff P. We then walked down the boardwalk to TGIF for the annual CM GOCC meeting. I walked into our meeting room and said. "hi Im Raptor Jo, please vote for me for vice president, thank you!" Everyone laughed! Bryan and Angie Edwards were there too.To my PIC-you would have been proud of me when I asked the Rockhold daugher "what 2nd hill on Raptor were you referring to?" She laughed and said "it's so cool isnt it?" WTH? ;) The conversation with Old Timer Tim and his friend Pete was too funny, and yes Tim we DID toot in Attica this afternoon just for you!!! Again this year the appetizers were awesome, the dessert was great, the conversation as well as the company was first class. Thank you CP for that too! It was as though Jeff, Melody and I got our 2nd wind at this point, I know it gets "rough" during the afternoon at CM, and I was siked up and ready for a great PM ERT time. We stopped at Mine Ride and when we got to the platform one of my old Raptor crew members said "I saw you on Discovery channel!" Then he went into this story about the "killer" geese they have living around the ride and had us ROLLING telling us about it! For some unknown reason one of the other ride ops told the GP waiting for the train that Mean Steak was open til midnight, they got all excited and I grabbed my CM button (one of the 5 I had-dont ask) and said "if you don't have one of these buttons then NO Mean Streak for you!!!" This ride was TOO fun thanks to the muffleheads. Mel and I had our hoods over our faces and you could just hear and feel the muffleheads squishing! Jeff then said "oh-RIGHT in my eye, nice!" Mel and I were laughing so hard by that point we were crying by the time we were done. We literally cried all our eye liner off, it was GREAT! Off to MF we went for our freeway lap, Mel still wouldn't look! Then to MS in the dark. I havent ridden MS in the dark (ok-not in the dark really but at night) since CM of '99 and it was really great! :)Despite the gazillion trim brakes it was flying and it WAS fun!! I even talked some of the GTTP'ers into going back for one more lap . Off to Maggie we all headed. Instead of details, 13 trips including 2 rerides, only 1 trim-free run. Has that Maggie owl ALWAYS been under the platform??? The funniest thing that happened during those runs was during the pretzel turn I lean way out, someone behind me was saying "lady? lady? are you ok?" I had NO idea he was talking to me till I came back into the car after the turn. He said "I thought you were going to fall out!" Melody said when she heard him saying that she happened to look over and only saw the small of my back and my butt and got hysterical laughing. (Flashback to CM '01-when Robin Innis was riding with me, "I looked over and you were gone, where did you go?") We really did have a blast riding with Matt's Dad and his one friend and son, all the laps were awesome, I have the sore left ribs to prove it. Back to MF we headed for our last ride of the night. Mel sat that ride out, so Jeff and I took it on for all it was worth. It was a great lap, yet sad knowing it was the end of CM '02. Jeff, Mel and I were back at the hotel around 1:30-all asleep by 1:34. Melody had these plans of getting up around 7 to get home early. None of us budged til after 10! I get home to find out my b/f bought another horse at a horse auction for me to "put some miles on". Yes, just what I needed yet one more "equine project" to train. I really do need to keep him away from those auctions!
My personal highlights were hanging with my bestest bud on earth and sharing my heaven on earth with her. Seeing all my GTTP, GOCC and CP family as always was great. I missed riding Maggie with Robin Innis since Janice had her platform this year (and some ACE'ers just stood there ALL ERT and talked to her) and no Raptor ride with Bryan for me. For some unknown reason he doesn't recall owing me a ride, but he DOES trust me! I also missed my PIC.
Thanks to CP for another awesome CoasterMania I had a BLAST! It was great meeting some new GTTP'ers and CB'ers, I'm going to skip names only cause I know I will forget someone and I don't want to do that! To my GTTP, GOCC and CP buds I had the pleasure of hanging out with, thank you for a great time and great memories, you guys all rock and -I love you all! :) Here's looking forward to CoasterMania '03! And what was the word of the day????

Ahhhh! What a day it was. I'm sure this year's CoasterMania was the best I've ever attended. Alot of that has to do with the company I was in. Jo, Melody and Jeff you guys all rock. I could'nt think of a better way to spend a day at the park than with you guys. I would like to thank you guys for convincing me to ride Woodstock's Express, what great little coaster.:)
Thanks Jo, for the compliments on my photo. I really appreciate that. Thanks to CP for being so generous with those Goodie Bags.:) All in all a great day and I look forward to hangin' with all of you again real soon.
I also wanted to send shot out to CP for hosting a world class event. Thanks to all involved, your efforts are greatly appreciated!!!
