Good luck with that Walt, I've tried explaining that to Mr. Scott before.

I compared the different hotel prices before my first CP trip in '03. If you want to cook/prepare most of your own meals and have the option to go back to your room and take a nap, stay at LHP or Camper Village if you have an RV. MrScott, you seem to want to shove LHP down everyone's throat.;) I'M the one here who's saying to others yes, BE is a good alternative to staying on-peninsula. Most people who stay at BE grab a quick breakfast in the lobby. My family and I take breakfast items and a cooler of juice on our CP trips. I stated in another thread that LHP seems really cool, but I don't agree with your price estimates and savings sales-pitch. The food you bring to LHP/CV isn't free and you have to prepare it yourself. And you have to leave the park to do that. That is a big negative for a lot of people. I did my research, and BE is the best compromise for a lot of families for economy, convenience, and that all-important 9:00 entry.:) I don't see the free parking as a huge savings, especially for a one or two day trip. Last year when I visited CP for a four day trip in May and a three day trip in June I bought a parking pass.
LOL. Another thread on a Lighthouse Point tangent. Maybe Lighthouse Point needs its own forum...
I might stay there yet this year, but I'll still eat most of my meals in the park, so it won't save me any money in that respect. I enjoy cooking out when I'm at home, but I wouldn't want to spend the time doing it at the Point.

Why not, Darth? There is nothing like firing up the charcoal after a long day at the park, cooking a steak/burgers at 1/10th the cost and enjoying the patio/deck while your chunk of cow cooks. (Even better with beers).
You seem to think that you would lose park time by doing this. Not so. You are still in the park and if you want to wander over for a couple of rides after dinner, you may do so.
StL CPfan:
I am not trying to shove anything down anyone's throat. I have visited CP (college) 1 day trip (drive 5 1/2 hours, do the park til close, drive home 5 1/2 hours. This was a killer even when I was in college.
Camp outside the park (Bayshore?) That damn train woke me up all night and sleeping in a tent on the ground was not the best.
Camp inside the park. Not bad, no complaints. But I don't own a trailer and the Sis that does does not want to pull it that far with the way gas prices are.
Hotel Breakers. Nice, but noisey and you have to pay for prepared food, which can get really expensive! Limited room, compared to a cabin/cottage at Lighthouse Point.
Breakers Express. Nice, but read above and then factor in the getting through traffic to get back to your room and the $9.00 per day parking fee.
I have stayed at all of these and have found Lighthouse Point to be the best time, the best value and best for me. It may not be for everyone, you make your choice. I have NEVER had anyone who took my advice and stayed at LHP say anything but good things about the place and thanked me for Pointing them in that direction.

Well, you make it sound awfully good. I'll be sure to let you know if we stay there. We still got five trips planned this season.

Darth, at least try Lighthouse Point once.
You'll never go any other way. Forget something? Charcoal? Lighter Fluid? Hot Dogs or Buns? They are all available in the Camp Store (walking distance). They have many other items, too. Prices are reasonable (except beer). Trust the Mayor, you will have a GREAT time!
Oh, and don't forget to use the FREE shuttle service to take you to whatever entrance you want to use. The Marina gate is great for a first train out on MF.

Next year, we are staying at Breakers. We had the worst hotel experience ever with BE. They tried to upcharge us $100 more per night then what was on our conformation letter. Finally after an hour and a half later, they gave the price to my mom and dad that we had on our letter. Then later that night after getting home from the Thirsty Pony and Park at like 11:30, we couldn't get into our room. None of the keys would work. 2 guys from the park had to come over and try to open our room, nothing would work, not even the hotel's main key that is "supposed" to work on every lock. After about 45 minutes of trying to open our room, one of the maintenance guys went over to the park to get a wire that they had made to open up doors and what not. Finally, it worked. Those guys were great and very understanding and nice, not to mention providing some nice info. ;) Also, we had a coupon for a free rollaway bed, it never came until then. We called later in the week for wake up calls, they never came. The list goes on. Overall, the employees there were very rude, and we will never stay there again and reccomend that no one stay there. Also, in my uncles room, they had an open wall recepticle that had no cover or anything.

That's sweet man. I'm also staying at BE from July 4th (night-no CP)- July 7th. (CP 5th and 6th)

FYI... Breakers Express does NOT charge parking. I have my voucher to prove it...
Went to the park for 2 days and never spent a dime for parking...

Depending on how many days you're there and if you stay at a Cedar Point resort, yes.
If you're only there for a day, and you stay in a hotel not owned by Cedar Point...still yes.
I would give it about a half-our or maybe ever forty-five minute wait. I choose it over MaXair anytime.
If you have a resort, what we did is ran from The Wicked Twister entrance over to Millennium and got on the first train both days. Not running always used to give us about the fourth train. I would ride Millennium once or twice then head over to Skyhawk.
If you're not at a resort, then I would just go anytime.
I'm sure there is a time you should avoid it though...
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
I plan not to ride MaXair because I live next to PKI and I ride Delirium very often.
