talked to a young guy there,he was from Florida.
here it is 2:30 in the morning, just got home, was not registered for camping, just for attending. Freebie was a 'coaster campout' blanket. The point pavilion food was hot dogs and burgers. The waiting line at 9pm for campers to bring their 'stuff' in was from the soak city entrance to the tunnel under the magnum for the parking lot. From 9 to 10:30,campers brought in and setup their tents. 'Tent city' was interesting. From the shooting gallery back to the train station on concrete, along with the antique cars grass. Non campers were not admitted to the area until 10:30 for the ERT. Maverick was no line, pick your seat, except for front. Did 4 rides then went to Dragster for 4 rides there to end the day.

We bailed this morning after breakfast due to the rain since we didn't really feel the need to get even more rides (Platinum Pass so we can ride whenever we want). Overall it was very fun! We had a grass camp spot. The freebies were more than I was expecting (blankets were a surprise bonus!)
What a stupid idea to do marketing for HW. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Had a 4 year old with us. there was a lot of kids. Tony owes us an apology. Overall it was fun, but THAT was not a good decision to have the monsters shake tents, and stick there heads into the tents. Terrible idea.

omg are you kidding me? I had assumed that there was a big announcement at 2 am with lights and you could come out and see or something, how scary for your little ones! I wanted to go so bad with my 7 year old but we didn't win the lottery. Sounds like they didn't think of children when they planned that out. My kid would never want to go camping again!
The last 24 hours was nothing short of absolutely amazing! The food was great as always, the organization was outstanding, and the night was unbelievable. The 2am advertisement was pretty cool! Waking up with Millennium Force's drop in clear view was something I dreamed of as a kid. It was also pretty sweet during the night when id wake up and see Millennium Force's hill lit up. Definitely my favorite Cedar Point event! I really hope this becomes a yearly tradition like CoasterMania!
the more I think about it, the more I am PO'd I am. During HW's the haunted attractions, for obvious reasons, have a notice that states that children should not participate. so they invite us to campout. Wait till all of us are falling asleep and than bring out the witches and werewolves.
I don't understand how this got from idea to implementation without someone standing up and bringing up the fact that this is not a good idea.

I guess we know what that building is now! The music scared us at first too. It was so loud I thought it was storming at first! But I didn't hear any children around us that we scared. In fact, the two families with little ones near us both said the kids slept through the whole thing (I have no idea how!)
We had such an awesome time, even the ride time this am was fun in the rain! We rode so many things, and even had a few rides on Dragster late last night. I'm really glad we got picked for this. Concrete camping was actually really nice with an air mattress. I hope this event happens again next year, and hopefully we get chosen again too. Now we are just refreshing and waiting for the weather to get a little nicer.
For those of us that were not there, can somebody explain exactly what happened. What is the name of the new haunt?

When I was a kid, we camped where Magnum is now. I'm old.

I don't remember hearing a name, but here's what I remember happening. Before we went to bed, Tony announced that it was quiet time and said not to feed the animals at night, which I thought he meant the petting zoo and dinos..lol. Then around 2 am, a really loud thunder crash started playing with horror music in the speakers in the park. At first I thought it was a mistake and music they forgot to turn off during the night, but then it kept going, so I peeked out of our tent windows and saw 3 or 4 people in costumes (at least one werewolf I think) scaring each of the tents by rustling them or saying things. By this point, everyone was awake talking and laughing hahaha. The music lasted a few minutes and at the end they announced that this was a HHN preview and the new building by GK is a new haunt. She may have listed a name, but I was in a fog from waking up suddenly so I can't remember. I thought it was pretty funny way to tell us the info that we've been speculating over. I can see why those with small children would not have been too impressed though.
Pretty sure it startled everyone though! If they say no, they have to be lying lol. I'm pretty sure nobody expected that, even with Tony's quiet time announcement. Maybe somebody else can remember more details from the actual announcement at the end of the music. It was too early/late for me.
Smores, scares, and rides...what else can you imagine at a CP campout.
The new haunts announced were Tombstone Terror-Tory and Hex Haunted House.
I'm assuming the Hex House will be in the building.
Promoter of fog.
The music was the only think that startled me. I remember Tony warning that the park may be noisy during the night, but that was due to landscaping an cleanup. I loved every minute of it though, although i understand that there were a lot of parents camping out with very young kids, and how your children could have been very scared. If i was 5-8 years old, and a werewolf woke me up at 2am id probably never wanna go camping again.
My family had a blast camping in our tent. We were in Zone #1 on concrete, of course. We had four people (one of which was my 7 year old daughter). We had two bunk bed cots. THAT made a ton of difference.
As for my daughter, SHE NEVER WOKE UP during the 2am wake-up! She rolled over, but that was it. We even had to wake her after Camp Counselor Clark woke us at 6:30am! She has no recollection of either occurrence.
The family in the tent next to us had a 3-4 year old. She did not even wake up during the 2am disturbance.
For the 2am stunt, my wife, did go out and warn the Screamsters that were in our zone that there are two kids nearby. They acknowledged and went onto the next tent(s).
Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, (sorry to those who feel that some aspects of the 2am event was not appropriate), but it was apparent to me that the MAJORITY enjoyed the stunt. If CP didn't think that the MAJORITY would not get a kick out of it, they probably would not have done it.
The signs were there if you noticed that quiet time was listed after 2am and the Camp Counselor at his 12:30ish announcement DID mention to not feed the animals, not to mention the setting we were in......
This was an awesome all around event! ALL four of us had a blast. The only think I my daughter wishes is that she would have heard the 2am music and seen the screamsters!
I'd like to see OnPointTony post up and let us know how it went from his and CPs' viewpoint. Was it as expected ? Were there too many ? Were there not enough ? What could we, as participants, have done better ?
The quality and success of an event also depends on us !

I understand where the parents are coming from with the halloweekend announcement but, personally, I was on cloud 9. I knew they were going to do something and I'm pleased with what they did. This was a bucket list style event for me and I'm ecstatic that it happened. I want to hug everyone involved with setting up this event. :)

Same! It was so fun, and I really hope this event happens again and that I'd be lucky enough to get to go. It all seemed very smooth and well planned from what I saw. Best couple days ever. Crowds were really heavy Saturday and Sunday, and longer lines than the 4th of July weekend, even with the rain yesterday.
It was the GREATEST EVENT!! I brought my 3 daughters(13,13 &8) and we loved every minute of it. It was so exciting. Cedar Point throws one hell of a party. Did anyone ever find out what Camp ROU was?
