Coaster Campout

Please warn us if you snore really loudly lol

I, too, have not received an email with all the rules. I called in and registered back in Feb. after receiving the email. We are on concrete.

I sure hope this was just some over-site. I make sure anything from the @cedarpoint.com is not blocked on any of my email accounts !!!

My group consists of an Engineer. He has purchased a wagon with air filled tires. He is building a support structure that will house our tent, cots, and other necessities all on the wagon for the trek from Soak City lot to the campsite. The wagon, cots, and other stuff should hold the tent while ERT is in session.

I just would like to know if I can call the original number I called to reserve my spot to request the rules be re-sent to me......otherwise all this engineering being done is for naught!

Of course you can call. The worst thing that happens is either that they don't return the call or they say you no longer have a spot. The worst thing that happens if you don't call is you don't get an email and show up to find you don't have a spot. So, in short, if you want to call, call! They can always point you to the appropriate resource.

Well, that makes me feel a little better. We have been preparing and super excited for this too, but now I'm worried about actually being allowed to attend! We are leaving this weekend for a week long trip next week, so I want to be sure I pack everything we will need, but that needs to happen very soon.

I was wondering how much stuff (basically padding) everyone was bringing and how they planned to get it there and back. I also thought about having to bring a wagon. At least there will be quite a few of us, so we won't look completely ridiculous hauling a bunch of stuff into CP that night :) I tested my tent on concrete this morning, and I think with my yoga mat and a few blankets, it will be okay. After all, I don't foresee myself getting much sleep that night anyway. I considered bringing an air mattress (and I still might), but what a pain to carry and then it takes forever to deflate enough to be able to fold up, so I'm probably going without it.

Okay, so I must now post a retraction. :-|

I decided to com through email AFTER posting the above.

I DID get the email on 7/5/14. For some add reason the filter applied that should not have and placed it in TRASH. Good thing I don't have it set to auto empty!!!!

Is it the 18th yet ?!?!?!?!

I just restored my email and there it is still in the trash from the 5th! Thank you for checking on this :)

Now that I've read through the details, here's my questions for everyone:
Concrete campers, what kind of weight are you guys bringing? I don't think our stuff will be heavy enough to hold it down if it's windy, unless we do bring our air mattress.
If we pack up around 6:30, it sounds we will be able to re-enter the park early that morning without any issues, right? Also, for the Friday night ride time, we will not be able to leave and ride the other rides as the area is secured off? But I wonder if that was for before when the park was supposed to close at 10. You would think with our proof of attendance, leaving the area when the park is still open wouldn't be a huge issue.

Yes. You'll need to pack up your campsite and take everything out to the parking lot presumably before 9-10am. Not sure which gate(s) will be open in the morning for ERT, but I would think at least the front gate. The Soak City lot gate would be awesome, though. :)

No idea how they're going to block off parts of Frontier Town so I can't say about leaving the area. I know after "lights out" you aren't supposed to leave the area. However, non-campers will need to be able to leave for the night.

Here's what I'm planning on doing. I have 4 empty water jugs that I will be taking into the park empty. I'm going to fill them up in the park and tie them off to the corners. It'll end up being about 32 pounds between them all. Won't hold if there is a ton of wind but it'll keep them down enough with normal winds. So it shouldn't blow away. Plus they won't be heavy to have to haul into the park.

Most of Frontiertown will close just for this event.

I would assume that would mean like from Millennium to say oh I don't know, Fort Sandusky and that will be your area.

That's Frontier Trail. Frontier Town begins at SRF and ends just before the Gemini bathrooms.

I would bet that they'll close off the Antique Cars area as well as the path right in front of Maverick.

Brandon

Sounds about right.

That's a great idea! I was thinking about hauling some rocks inside (in a wagon) to tie down to, but yours is a much better idea.

Sleeping/camping within an amusement park during off hours,I doubt much sleep will be achieved. Since the area is gonna be blocked off,CP should setup a screen, projector, audio and play the movies 'rollercoaster' and 'close encounters of the 4th kind'.

As luck would have it, I find myself unable to attend the event. And with the PointBuzz jet still in the shop, I doubt Jeff will be able to make it either. If anyone would like to share some photos with us, that would be swell. You can send them to us through our Facebook page, or email me at walt@schmidty.com. Thanks!

Man, now I kind of wish I'd have planned to go. I wasn't originally sure if I'd be on call this weekend or not, or what was up with work. I wonder if I can hang out with my buddies who are doing it until it's time to leave.

^Wish I could have transferred my registration of me + guest with tent on pavement to you. I'm bummed I won't be able to make it, but also glad to not be making the 1100 mile drive today.

1100 miles from where ?
