Closing Weekend 2008 and Halloweekend Report

I'm not going to make a huge report because I work in the morning. Four of my friends and I got to the park around 5:30 on Friday and checked into our LHP cabin. It was very nice. We went into the park and rode everything that was open except Maverick because it was down when we went to it. We also hit all of the Halloweekends attractions. The lines were very managable all night. We got back to the cabin around midnight.

Saturday I went into the park alone to do some riding in the early afternoon. We all would go into the park later with their Starlight admission. In the afternoon I grilled steaks and portobello mushrooms outside. Dinner was great. Before going to the park one friend I got a ride on Skyscraper. It was excellent. In the park we hit a few rides and hit a few of the Halloweekends attractions again. The lines were a little bit longer than I was used to but we still had a good time. We headed back to the cabin around midnight.

Sunday we woke up around ten and checked out at eleven and then headed to the park. The park was very empty. We rode all of the major rides along with several smaller rides and hit Club Blood and Pharaoh's Secret. Around five we went into town and ate at the Olive Garden. We got back to the park just before seven with time to ride Dragster, Millennium, and Magnum. For the third year in a row I got last train on Magnum. It was great.

All in all a great weekend. The weather was nice and the crowds were quite managable. I got several rides on Millennium Force, Magnum, Skyhawk, and Dragster. I also got on several smaller rides that I hadn't been on in a while.

This season was the best for me thus far. Halloweekends continues to deliver. The new attractions were all gems. Terror Island was a great new zone that I hope is back next year with even more energy. Cornstalkers has become my favourite attraction. The screamsters that dress in the corn outfit and pop out blend in so well and do a great job scaring. Club Blood was a great house. When all of the screamsters are working at 100% it is the best house. Pharaoh's Secret was about the same as it has been in the past, nothing special. Hopefully next year it gets a make over. Fear Faire has always been my least favourite zone. Everything is just so spread out and the screamsters never seem to make their presence known. Fright Zone is still very enjoyable and the new location for Carnevil is much better. I didn't make it through UR Dade. Does anyone know if the tunnel was in it this year?

Vince, thank you for the advice on the closing day crowds. I went and had an awesome time. The tunnel was still in UR Dade.

Damn I'm disappointed that I missed it.

Does anyone else think UR Dade is disappointing? It has two great effects (tunnels) but the rest of the house largely consists of entrance and exit ramps to said tunnels and it is way too short.

The only reason I've ever gone through it was for the tunnel. I know the haunted house is sub-par but the tunnel is awesome.
