Closing Weekend 2005

So the weekend started off good enough. We headed down to Ohio on Saturday, skipping Cedar Point and headed straight to Geauga Lake. After some tie ups and the 250+ miles of travelling, we arrived at Geauga Lake around 2 or 3 pm, I forget which really. The $9 parking sucks, but after I paid it we got into the park pretty quick, and headed for Dominator.

One train wait for the back seat. Good ride, and it has more speed than I remember. My last trip to this park was in August of 2003 when Six Flags still owned it. I wanted to ride Thunderhawk, but it seemed to be down more than up during the day.

Next up was the Wolf Kabobs. I didn't have the credit, but I liked it somewhat. It was kind of rough in a couple spots, but not nearly as bad as has been said before. After the Kabobs we were off to the escape from Dino island. That sucked, and made me feel sick.

The waterpark looks really nice, and I'm sure Cedar Fair will make it even better next year. I was impressed.

I took a ride on Double Loop and then Villain. Villain was rough, and I think the planning for it was horrible. The new trains are MUCH Better than the old ones, but I still wasn't impressed. Not like some people said that ride used to be.

After Villain, we went into a clown-ish haunted house. That was one of the coolest I have ever been in. Props to Geauga Lake for that one.

After that, it was time for a Texas Twister. I ran into Josh, and said hi. It made me kinda sick, and I don't think I'll be riding one of those again. Then off to Dominator for a front row spin. Then it was on to the Big Dipper. A Pointbuzzer recognized me, and said hi to me. I forgot his name, but if you're reading say hi. Big dipper was great, and then we rode the Monorail.

The lady we rode with recognized me as well from Pointbuzz. I guess I'm a mini-celebrity. After that, it was onto X-flight, then the drive back to Sandusky. We stopped and got pizza, and filled up my truck ($2.16.. yay its getting better.)

Got to the park around 9, and it was packed. Did frightzone and WWL and then ran into Matt and rode a couple times on Magnum. Then I went to MF and met up with Tony to find the line to be an hour and a half. He decided to wait, I decided to leave as I had to drive back to North Royalton.

Realized the time change was on Saturday night. I got on the turnpike at 1:45 and got off it at 1:11. Got very little sleep, and was back on the road at 9 am. I got to the Rye Beach Rd. McDonalds around 10 after 10, and didn't leave it until almost 20 till 11. Crappiest service ever, and if anyone who has anything to do with that McDonalds reads this, I hope they know I will never buy another thing there as long as I live.

Anyway, it was 11 by the time I got into the park, 30-40 minutes later than I had planned. The park was already filling up. I took a few rides on Magnum, one of them with Jerry, and then headed to the Garter for the podcast.

It was nice to see a lot of familiar faces there - Linda, Matt, Kara, Matt, Dave, Tony, Larry and some others. I ended up going up to the balcony, and had some really rude people behind us. I was glad they finally left. I liked Kinzels answer to the White Water Landing question that Scott Short asked. I was actually kind of hoping that there would be a confirmation of the 'Out with a Bang' theory that everyone tosses around. i still am not really sure he said that. I like how Kinzel admitted he read your sites, though, Jeff. ;)

Anyway, after the podcast I rode WWL again, then Mean Streak and Gemini before leaving the park. The park was filling up, and I went over to a friends house and helped her get ready for the party sunday night. I got back to the park around 5:30 and walked a big lap around the park, riding Sky Ride on part of it, and then eventually leaving the park to go sit in the truck for awhile. I headed back in, rode Magnum once and then go to Millennium Force around 7:30 and took a spot next to the lawyer signange. By 8 the area was packed.

We all waited in line and then we got up to the station, and we all entered, but a bunch of people did not. I got in line for the last seat, and told all the people in line behind the turnstile they would not get to ride if they didn't get in the station. People acted 3 years old. Eventually threats to call security were made, and people filled up the train. I ended up on the last train of the night for the third seaosn in a row.

It was sad to see the season come to a close. I was glad to see everyone again, though.

I was one of the 5 people who did not enter the station. There were probably 15 people in front of me standing in the station. Why were the people in the BACK of the line trying to be forced into the second to last train? Technically last people in the line should be guaranteed the last ride.

Oh yeah, line jumping is cause for removal from the park. I wasn't going to line jump the 15 people in front of me.

i went sunday.. was a nice day.. left around 6 cause the girlfriend couldnt make it and we had some together plans for the night.. got my last ride on wwl which was somewhat sentimental as it was the first TALL ride that i rode..i was about 10... didn't notice the hill until it was late.. criedlike a little baby rode it and been hooked on coasters since.. plus i rode it with my mom who has lupus and cant go to the park.. so it brought back GREAT childhood memories I think that is what im sad about not that its gone but that memory will never be there.. never gonna be on that ride again.. rode DD 3X still love it!! anyways was sad Maxair was out of commision but got lots of rides.. as usual my normal foods complaints.. slow service.. COLD nacho cheese... but i guess i'll learn to spend my money out of the park for that reason but still enjoy the rides and the nice people there....anyways can't wait till MAY.. c u there!!!!
