Closing Weekend

Friday:

We got to the park around 6:30. The crowd seemed to be light and the temperature seemed to be on the warm side. We decided to do the "Halloween" stuff this night, hit most of the attractions. I have to admit I enjoy this time of the year at Cedar Point.

Saturday:

We didn't get to the park until 2:00 but we totally missed the rain. Definitely a good thing. The wind was really kickin' but the temps were decent. We had no problem getting through most of the park. We ate at Midway Market, always a good value. Love the ride prides in Kiddy Kingdom, at least they seemed to be having a good time.

Sunday:

Got there at 9:00 for Joe Cool, maybe everyone forgot the time change but the park seemed almost empty. Hit tons of coasters before 11:00. We did alot of strolling around this day, just enjoying our last day. It's always sad to see the park change in the closing hours: the stuffed animals off the walls, trash cans being moved, food stands taking down their displays. The only pet peeve I have about closing day is the people who must have the last train out. I just don't get it! First they stand around the exit then they enter the que and stand some more and then they get to the station and count people to make sure they absolutely have the last train. Give me a break, just ride and say that was "your" last ride of the '04 season. Walking out of the park the carousel lights went out and that was the end of a great season.

Of course, we were hungry after a full day at CP, so we decided to try Cameo Pizza, a local joint. Definitely was worth it.

I have to say that I agree with you regarding those wanting the last ride of the season. I could understand if it was the last ride for that ride ever, or if it was being moved to another park. But for a coaster that will be open next season? Oh well, to each his own! I'm glad you had a good time.

I agree with this completely. By the end of the season, the regular ops employees are, for the most part, just marking time. The Ride Prides, on the other hand, are fired up as it is all still new and exciting. My all-time favorite Ride Pride was a frat boy working Scrambler during last year's Halloweekends.

Having last ride of the season is a special tradition amongst a lot of us, myself included. I don't expect others to understand it. Most pick there favorite ride, but some will pcik a different ride each year. I ride Magnum. It holds a special place in my heart and it has become tradition to get 1st & last trains of season. Not to make me fell special. But because it IS special to me. It's more than just a coaster ride. It's my way of saying "goodbye" on closing day and then "welcome back" at opening.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

The last weekend was so sad for me because I'm going to miss all my friends that i met there. But we are still keeping in touch thank goodness. This year was probably the best year at cedar Point and this was the first year i rode all the coasters to. Also I always go in the Haunted Houses the last day at Cedar Point with my friends or we ride something for a tradition for the closing of the year untill next year. *** Edited 11/3/2004 9:10:28 PM UTC by Cedar Chick04***

Yea I was there Sat. and the wind was going. Raptor, TTD, and other rides were shut down do to the wind. Over all the last trip of this season was a good one. Almost walk-on all rides {YES}. MF was 1 hour wait but I know its was most because the line was almost filled. So that sucked to have to wait in line. HMMMM

Goodbye 2005 season!!!!
