Closing Time...

Closing Time. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end...

So the 2003 season has come to a close. I'm sure many of the seasonals who worked all the way up through closing weekend are happy to be finished. Unfortunately I couldn't make it back to the park to since I left in August.

Anyone from the Dragster crew, how was the launching of the last full train of the season...Somber? Joyous? Both?

Also, I'd like to have anyone that worked there this year to post some of your most memorable times of the 2003 season.

Here are several of mine. Walking around in the park by myself at 3:00 in the morning just because I could. :) Waking up and having Power Tower visible from my window. Midnight runs to Taco Bell, Meijer, and Walmart. Employee ride nights, Soak City nights, and Big Bash. Discovering DDR Extreme and finding out how truly awesome it can be just to watch. Making friendships with crewmembers, fellow workers, and especially a great friendship with Ivan from Serbia...and ending up being very happy that we ended up rooming together. Riding Gemini up front while getting paid for it (yeah!). Executing a few mechanical E-stops on a ride ("that could make a grown man cry") without a hitch. Staying out very late at night on the "former" employee beach just talking with fellow crewmembers...and once even until morning.

I was excited before closing and it grew untill I left my ride. When I processed out not long after, it turned into sullen as I realized that the summer is over and won't see some of my crewmates again.

Overall this summer has been incredible but terminal. Now it's just another memory that will slowly fade.

Eddy the retard is awesome.

This past summer held a lot of memories for me. Some good, some bad... But luckily for me, the good ones definitely outnumbered the bad. Cedar Point can be like that.

I was definitely bummed when the time came to go back to school -- the days just flew by and before I knew it my time was up again; you set goals at the beginning of the season and you just hope that you can reach all of them before it's time to go.

From incredibly fun days at Soak City and insane midnight travels around Sandusky (wow...I had a car, finally!) to laser screen movie nights ("Hey, you guyyyys!"), BW's karaoke night and learning to write in Thai, I had a pretty amazing summer, met a lot of cool people and enjoyed good times with my crew and friends from past seasons. I can't wait to see what next April brings.
