Anyone else planning on hitting up Ocean Motion for one last run on Sunday? I'm curious if the lines will be long since it is the final day for it, but I'm guessing they won't be too bad.
As a side note, I'm a little worried about swinging rides and spinning rides in general, but I want to ride it one last time like I did when I was younger. I can handle every coaster in the park fine, but Wave Swinger gets me a little dizzy sometimes. Should I have any problem on OM? Is it best to look at the other side of the ship to reduce motion sickness, or should I look perpendicular to the boat?
Did anyone anywhere happen to notice if they said that it will not be in operation next year? I know they said dismantled, but i dont recall anything about not operating or moving it.
Well, it s for sale. But, if no one buys it, who knows. Demon Drop was for sale and they ended up moving it to Dorney.

WindSeeker will be positioned near the present location of the Ocean Motion swinging boat ride and will extend the park’s midway onto the Cedar Point Beach. At the end of the season, Ocean Motion, built in 1981, will be dismantled. It is currently available for sale.

@loneranger7281: I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure when you they say they're dismantling it, that means they're not putting it back together anywhere else.
I figured it at much, but i just wanted to throw that out there. I got my list ride in on opening weekend so im good. I just didnt realize the ride is as old as i am.
I suspect that it'll end up as scrap. I'm not convinced that there's much of a market for the ride.

I'm not convinced, Jeff, that it will end up as scrap. I wouldn't be surprised to see a traveling carnival buy it and retrofit to make it portable.
I'm too sexy for my harness!
I just don't see that as likely.
Does a new one of these actually cost so much that buying Cedar Point's 30 year old model is worth it?
And I don't think it's as simple as just making it fit on a trailer. There's usually a lot more to the travelling models than being built on a trailer. So I don't even know if retro-fitting is a possibility, much less inexpensive enough to make it worth it vs buying a brand new one.

It actually might already be portable. I think I remember walking by it an seeing that it already is on a trailer. But you're right, if it's not already portable, it may not be worth it.

That version is not portable. How much are they selling it for? Here is 1990 trailer mounted Sea Dragon by Chance for $225,000. It would be cheaper to buy a trailer unit then trying to convert one (which im not sure is possible with a ship).
That sucks for CP then after they just spent money to buy the ride a new body last year.
Let's Get Weird.
It's not like they rehabbed the ride without the knowledge that it would be replaced.
That they did it KNOWING it would be removed tells me there is something wrong within management.

^Perhaps they were trying to increase market value? No one really wants to buy a broken ride. Its the same thing with a car. Don't you want to give it a good buff, wash, and wax, and try and get all the dings and dents out before you sell it?
Just saying. ;)

Yeah, and it breaking down and running for 30 minutes last week doesn't really help its marketability.

Sit in the Middle and look down at the floor.
A World Far Beyond our Own
So....How was it?
Was there long rides for the ride or any kind of send off?
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

No, not at all. I rode it twice (different times) with no wait either time. People were just having conversations with the ride op while it was going up and down. It was pretty funny.
I walked by in the early evening and there were less than 10 people at the ride, employees included. We got our last ride on Saturday night with a full load of people.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
