I didn't notice Iron Dragon valley. I did notice that Millenium was going A LOT slower over the camel hill. From the ground, it looked like it was barely making it sometimes. Anyone manage to get a picture of Iron Dragon valley?
We got back about an hour ago from the park and the weather was brutal, but it was still worth it. Millennium in the wind and rain was brutal, it felt like a hurricane. The crowds were decent, but the large amount of rides closed made the lines fairly longer. Does anyone know why Magnum never opened?
Just another coaster junkie at Point Buzz
That's because it kind of is a hurricane :) But I think Magnum was closed because of the high winds. And Magnum's whole layout it pretty much beach side. It most likely would have valleyed

And here's where it valleyed before that.

I've got multiple pics of the iron dragon valley (both times Sunday), the mine ride valley (Saturday) and subsequent rescues by maintenance. Right now I'm at the Sandusky Walmart in my rv and will post pics tomorrow (Monday) of my trip. On its own post. Worst closing weekend, ever.
^ Post those pics when you can. I listened to my instincts and went last weekend (10/21) instead of my usual closing weekend because I heard this weather mess was coming all this weekend. I hope CP puts up some temporary huge breakwall on the beach side (the crane's already there), namely by the GK construction site, after what I heard about Sandy's possible effect on Lake Erie Monday-Tuesday PM. Let's keep our fingers crossed this doesn't turn out badly.
That's funny. I ran into fellow Point Buzzer, Shawn Meyer, when riding Mean Streak in the front tonight. He was talking about how Iron Dragon hadn't been running today, and I was questioning him whether Iron Dragon was a ride that valleyed in the wind. We knew that rides like Gemini, Magnum, and Raptor valleyed, but we weren't sure about ID. Little did we know that Iron Dragon was valleyed right before our eyes.
By the way, I almost didn't make this closing day trip to CP. I mean...low 40's, high wind, and 90% chance of rain every hour? But, I decided to go for it at the last minute, and I arrived at the park at 7PM. The weather was just as bad as expected, but I had a blast! Hmmm...trip report! :)
I did see ID valley as I walked past TTD. A crazy windy day. I'm glad the rain held off for a while, we got to do as much as we'd hoped to do given the many closures before the rain.
Hi, Ben. What's happening? We need to talk about your Pointbuzz posts.
Did you get that memo?
Ah! Yeah. It's just we're putting a ;) on all the sarcasm posts before they go out now. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!
;)
Yeah, that'd be great.
